I agree with you, and I said I wasn’t going to get ate up over the transfer portal. But I am and there’s nothing me or anyone else can do about it lol
I also like the growing trend of fan-based narratives that treat every program out there (for example, the rumor that Auburn offered Oweh $2.2 million; Dent got a bag worth $2-$3 million from UCLA; Tennessee has an elite booster class, etc.) like they have secret millionaire and billionaire boosters but not little ole Kentucky.
It's amazing that we could afford the highest paid coaches all these years and the #1 recruiting budget in the world with our little rinky-dink tradition and our rabid fan base that only consists of 5 to 6 million obsessive fans.

He'd be incredible off the bench as a defensive guy. Long arms, 6'5. We wouldn't have to force Perry or Noah in the lineup when they're just not ready. Pope will get his starters.

Dent was a miss. Eaglestaff was not a miss. Osobor wanted to be the man and used us for more money and then followed his coach.
You’re cherry picking one guy. The fact of the matter is we need major upgrades. Spend the money and get the top players or someone else is going to.
One..just because we contact some guys doesn’t mean we’re going to sign them. Two, we just went though a horrific year with injuries so don’t color me shocked the staff is looking to develop depth.

Good players yes, but In doubt their will ever be the so called superstar in the transfer portal. maybe Jasper Johnson will be our superstar, maybe Chandler after a year back in basketball will be as well, every team is made up of maybes, shoulda, and coulda now a days I feel maybe with NIL it about team not individuals. Coming out of high school he was known for scoring with really good footwork. Guys who have good footwork are typically good defenders because they're smart.

The only validity in my opinion would be our remaining NIL budgets. Just use these VERY VERY loose figures as an example:
2 mill for SR Otega
1.25 mill for FR Jasper
600k for FR Acaden
600k for FR Malachi
750k for SO Kam Williams
In that ridiculously put together example UK would’ve committed 5.2 mill already not factoring in potential other returners of Chandler, Garrison, Noah, Perry. The local duo of Perry/Noah have little value in the portal market so I doubt we pay much in straight pay to play NIL. They probably still do great off the local ads I see and hear all the time though.
The biggest difference so far in roster building compared to last year is the freshmen. We probably got Carr, Williams, and Kriisa for about the same combined as our 3 freshman this year. We just can’t point to proven performance with our guys this year to have any sense of expectations.
Dent and Eagle are gone. Look forward not backward. Who do you want that is left out there? Maybe it's just me but I'm looking for who we we get, not who we don't.
Osobor was ON OUR CAMPUS and could’ve been wrapped up but wasn’t. Washington paid the guy and we decided not too. That’s a miss no matter how you look at it.
Eaglestaff is 3x the player than Vyctorius Miller and we can go stat for stat and analyze if you want?

Not so much. Hercy Miller just finished playing at U6 2 years ago and master poop fart didn’t make him any cooler. Certainly no better at basketball!

Never assume that players are truly "wide open" and are actually considering every school they list.
You do realize we had a zoom with Thomas Jr?? who was literally ranked right behind dent in one of the transfer rankings.
Thomas is way higher on the want list than Miller.
If you go by that no coach ever loses a player they wanted.
He passed on paying him more than UCLA offered. My understanding was we gave him a fair offer he went to UCLA and told them the offer they offered more and he accepted maybe gave Pope and KY a counter offer but you can’t spend 1/3 of your budget on one guy unless he is the final piece to the puzzle which he obviously isn’t.

To me it's not hard to believe than an African American 22 yr old who was born and raised in California would prefer Westwood to Lexington.
His agents job is not to pick a school for him.
He picks the school and his agent gets him the most money possible.
If you were his agent don't you think it would be a smart move to publicly link him to UK and Duke to leverage UCLA ?
I'm not so sure he wouldn't be the final piece of the puzzle if Oweh returns and the freshmen coming in you would just need couple of bigs.
