I hope you all didn't think I was knocking Dakotah Euton. Seems like a great dude, and he was still better than 99% of high school players. You just need to be better than 99.95% to play for Kentucky.
You're welcome! I'm always happy to come across things like that to see former players find happiness and success after that final buzzer sounds.Man, thank you for sharing that. Looks like he's grown into a really solid dude, good for him. Seems like a great guy, I'm sure that wasn't easy to have an offer from Kentucky and then have to go down to Akron. Looks like it led to bigger and better things for him though. Good stuff.
Chad Jackson was the better player on those Rose Hill teams. He could get to the rim at will & if he had ever developed a jump shot he could’ve played P5 somewhere IMO. He ended up at NKU, IIRC. But, I do agree that Euton had the tools to be a solid D1 player. He just kinda peaked around his SO season & never really took that next step in his development. He was slow & unathletic but could really shoot it for a big guy & was pretty skilled all around, offensively. I think he was like top 10-15 in his class until his JR season or sometime around then.I don’t know about the next Larry Bird but I would have loved to see him in Gonzaga’s system. Dakotah went to high school about 30 minutes away from me before he transferred to Scott County. I saw him play many times.
In one of the articles about Euton it said he was a year older compared to others in his grade.Chad Jackson was the better player on those Rose Hill teams. I don't think there's much of a mystery to it. I skipped 90% of the season, and when I came back, this place felt/feels about half full. If that. No matter which side of the debate you're on, this place just isn't much fun right now. One side thinks "sunshine pumpers, all of them! Without knowing any better, they are going to help ruin Kentucky basketball." And the other side thinks "you know, if you constantly run down the UK coach, the UK players, UK administrators and most of the fan base - if you sound like a Louisville fan - you're doing it wrong." Either way, what's the point really? No one on either side is going to convince the other......Well someone has to take over the reigns as Cal’s resident PR man, since the mysterious disappearance of @GonzoCat90
Yeah, the last two Kentucky coaches. They not only "reached out to" those guys, they offered or even signed them.
The current coach, John Calipari, has changed things quite a bit, SIGNING guys who, in the last 11 tournaments, went to SEVEN Elite Eights, FOUR Final Fours and won a championship.
For this year, John Calipari has signed a top-ranked budding star Daimion Collins, two exciting Top 25 or 30 recruits in Hickman and Hopkins, and two of the top five transfers in America in Oscar Tschiebwe and Kellen Grady.
As for "reached out to" -- that's media chaff designed to fool the simpleminded. Programs and assistants reach out to lots of people. Only a total moron would use those reports to lob criticism.
We'll see who Kentucky actually SIGNS soon enough, and how it all fits together as a team. I have a feeling that team won't include G.J. VIlarino. I suspect it'll be an exciting mix of players that, ;post-COVID, puts Kentucky back where Calipari has almost always had the program.
