They are only fans when we have teams like 2012.
They don't appreciate the process over the course of the year and what these players give to our program.

UK fans have always bitched when they lose a game..and the vocal minority makes us all look bad. It doesn't matter who the coach is...but with Cal he just spoils you so much with some of the seasons he has that when he loses a game he shouldn't the crazies really freak out. If I told you UK would lose 9-10 games and win the title (based on my time machine lol), we would all take it. That said, the same morons on here would bitch like maniacs after every one of those losses despite knowing we'd win the title in early April. That is just how some of these people are. They obsess over every loss like it somehow makes a difference in their pathetic insignificant lives. Most of us have done that at some point, but most of us grow out of it.

The fact is, we probably won't win the national title...its just too hard to do and it takes a lot of luck, even when you have a great team. Even in 96 and 2012 we had tough Final Four games outside of the 2012 title game and that game was hairy late as we all know but it was not a tough game for 35+ minutes at least. We also know that Cal will have us near or in the Final Four with a shot at a title, and that is all the rational UK fans can ask for.

This isn't life or death, and last year was an anomaly not the norm. I'm enjoying every second of the Cal era because it won't last forever and we'll pine for these days when we hire our next Tubby or BCG. I won't judge this team until at least February. It's a whole new group of guys 8 games in. The meltdown last night was embarrassing but not surprising.

I don't care if fans vent frustrations or believe in their minds they could coach at this level. But grown men sitting behind their keyboards personally attacking the players, labeling 18 year-olds "busts" or saying one of our guys ":sucks" because they lost a game is juvenile and pathetic.

When you constantly start a class dominated by freshmen, you always run the risk of the learning curve. This group will be a very good team later in the season, we will take a few bumps between now and then. well of course we are; unfortunately - most of the "bashers" speak in absolutes. This team will NEVER do such and so, this player is a bust, the coach sucks.

Cal got outcoached Thursday night - he himself admits it. The team, as a whole, didn't play with the effort and energy they should have - whatever the reason. Poythress keeps disappearing; Skal looks completely lost, we are pretty thin on the front line, especially when we have an injury.

The above is critique, not a bash - but we have posters who show up ONLY when the team is doing poorly. Then we have a boat load of "newbies" who are here simply to gripe and bait. WIth the exception of a couple of regulars; we all recognize that there are concerns. But we also recognize that most of these are things that can be fixed and probably will be. We haven't given up on the team, or the coaching staff. THERE is the difference

A lot of folks will be eating their words come March...this team is especially young, inexperienced,and really don't understand the speed, and intensity of the D1 college game.
I think this team will come along a little slower than many of Cal's teams...however make no mistake we have ELITE guards, that when they get comfortable with each other and their teammates, are going to be special.

We need our bigs to get tougher, but that comes with PLAYING GAMES....I think this team has the potential to make a fun run in March...but we have to support them...we can critique, but we need to keep watching and enjoy the journey.

I think Coach Calipari knows what he is doing...he said from the start that this team will not be good early. Will they lose some games? Yes. Will they lose some games ugly? Maybe. But if this team can gel and start to play to their potential, won't it be great to witness?

I am hurt and disappointed at every loss,but I know these players are wanting to please themselves, their coach, and our fans. There is enough pressure on these guys to perform at UK...more than any other program....I am going to be patient with these guys...I hope others will too.

I think a lot of us often feel the same irrational emotion after a loss. The difference is that you have enough self-awareness to check yourself, the ability to use your intellect to overcome your emotion and see reality. That's something easier said than done, and generally develops over time.

The UCLA game was always a potential loss. The fact is that game wasn't a good matchup for us because our 3 guards weren't a mismatch for Ali, Hamilton, Holiday, and Alford. It's like some people here don't follow college basketball at all. I always knew this was a potential loss, and definitely not a good game for Skal to rebound from his poor play.

Programs that never sell out games sell ours out when we come to town. That's been happening all through our history.

Under Cals one and dones every year he is bringing in one of if not the youngest teams in the country and going on the road. That is where his young teams struggle.

Three elite teams (11, 13, 14). Two final fours.

IMO, the biggest reason so many were upset is because UCLA was an unranked team that lost to Monmouth, Wake Forest, and Kansas (by 19). We were ranked #1 and many on here laughed at UNCheat for letting an unranked team knock them out of #1 and then we do the same thing.

From the onset we were in trouble at UCLA and couldn't do anything that made a difference.

Should be a valuable lesson to the entire team, including the coaching staff.

Losing a game does not mean there is an unfixable flaw with the team and players who did not perform in that game are busts. The Brandon Knight team did not look great until March. There were fans calling him and that team a bust. That team ended up upsetting the unanimous #1 team and making the Final Four and Brandon Knight is now playing at an All-Star level in the NBA.

This fanbase is often labeled as the most knowledgeable in all of college hoops but i'm not so sure that's true.

IMO, the biggest reason so many were upset is because UCLA was an unranked team that lost to Monmouth, Wake Forest, and Kansas (by 19). We were ranked #1 and many on here laughed at UNCheat for letting an unranked team knock them out of #1 and then we do the same thing.

From the onset we were in trouble at UCLA and couldn't do anything that made a difference.

Should be a valuable lesson to the entire team, including the coaching staff.

(And I'm not including the obvious trolls that show up like clockwork after a loss). We are playing a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds merely 7-games into the season, with several players hurt. We also had suspect officiating, and a opponent that was having the game of their lives. Did some of your seriously think this team wasn't going to lose games early? THANKS for the rational explanation to the extremist on this board. As usual your post was spot on and accurate. I was angry as hell myself when we got beat the other night. And beat is pretty mild since we got our butts handed to us in every facet of the game. But it doesn't mean I don't like this team or that Cal can't coach. Everything will get better and we're one of about 4-5 teams that figure to win it all. It's the posters that go overboard with the NEVER do such and so as you put it and also the ones that act like idiots calling them out and basically doing the same childish thing by making end all comments to those that made the stupid comments in the first place. Yet Ulis was no where near 100% Lee was knocked out of gm 5 min in and Poy is still not 100% from knee surgury.
