We were 20 last week. I would have expected to drop out after splitting with lowly Lipscomb, but we hang in there.
Part of that is because we've played fewer games, so fewer wins and data points. UK has gone up +/- 150 spots since it finally started getting a normal schedule.Yes and no. In the last few years, UK has positioned itself very high in the RPI even before SEC play started (strategically playing decent mid majors on the road). This year, we sit at 80 in the RPI today and that's before a series with another team ranked between 150-200 at home this weekend (though Wofford does sit at 11-2).
In the end, I agree that SEC games matter the most, but UK got the number 2 overall seed last year partially b/c of SEC record, but also because it was extremely high in the RPI from beginning to end.
