People said that about Almonor too. This staff has metrics we aren't privy to, and I'd say they know what they're doing.
Totally different scenario. Almonor was a great get for the situation Pope came into. This time he's got a full portal window to get in on any and all prospects he wants. Last year a good chunk had already committed somewhere. Not saying Almonor was a bad piece but if he had a full look at the whole portal last year he may have made a different selection.
Are these guys just saying this to get their NIL up ? I think it would be best if people don't know who UK is after.
Kentucky is trying to find a backup power forward who is willing to play that position as a role player.

It would be hilarious if a player did falsely claim that, but then the school publicly stated "no, we never contacted you".

I don't understand why this has to be a said so many times. It's like some of these people don't know you need more than 5 starters.

Made me think about back in the day when Matt Jones was asked if he thought Tony Wroten Jr. would put a UK hat on his table despite not receiving an offer. And Matt classically responds, “No, because if Tony Wroten puts a UK hat on the table, then he’s picking that hat”.
Also, the strange time between Terrence Jones committing to Washington and signing to Kentucky, we were looking at a bunch of 4s, random names like Kadeem Jack and Luke Cothron were popping up left and right. Then this guy Chris Hill who was apparently a JUCO started being talked about a ton, but no one knew much about him. Turns out he was a real person but was just lying on Facebook. The staff had never mentioned him, but we as fans were in scramble mode not knowing what exactly was going on with the TJ situation.

Big fan of him dating back when he was on the Expressions (Nick Richards/Terrence Clarke's AAU team) with Matas Buzelis. Can defend and has improved offensively each time I've seen him. Great team guy-does dirty work that needs to be done to win games. Never understood the obsession with Florida St but it happens for some reason

Somebody has to flush out the back end of the roster in that 10th-15th area. Not every player you target has to be a stud. I'm sure they see something in the metrics or personal character of some players us fans would scratch our heads at just looking at stats or highlight film. I trust the process and fully expect Kentucky to cast a huge net in the portal, especially when it comes to end of the bench glue and project guys. I don't think they are looking at Bowen for starter minutes.
not sure why it matters... WE are UK if we really want you and the player wants the outstanding experience plus playing in POPES system then we will get them. IF all they are doing is counting dollars, then don't want them.. They will NOT be a good teammate. Plus because coach reached out does not mean they are primary target. If you put out 100 feelers but within the coaching staff they have five players they are targeting then it kinda lets all other teams guess as too what we are doing.
