Kentucky Baseball Boasts Seven Perfect Game Top 500 Freshmen
The Wildcats see two Top 100 freshmen arrive on campus, including no. 31 Tyler Bell
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Seven of the Top 500 freshmen in the nation to arrive on campus this fall reside at Kentucky according to a list unveiled by Perfect Game, including a pair of Top 100 recruits.
Infielder Tyler Bell (No. 31) and catcher/utility Ryan Schwartz (No. 86) will don Kentucky blue. Bell famously spurned the Tampa Bay Rays after being selected in the second round (No. 66 overall) of the Major League Baseball Draft in July. Kentucky’s 14-man freshman class is ranked No. 24 overall.
The Wildcats also signed a Top 10 transfer class. The Top 500 freshmen include:
The rest of the freshman class includes: Nolan Belcher (C, Jonesboro, Ark.); Logan Grubb (LHP, Lawrenceburg, Ky.); Tristan Hunter (RHP, Kissee Mills, Mo.); Hayden Mains (UT, Morehead, Ky.); Zach Moss (RHP, Hopkinsville, Ky.); Cameron Owens (RHP/IF, Harrodsburg, Ky.); and Khaleel Pratt (RHP/UT, Evans, Ga.).
The Cats are entering their ninth season under head coach Nick Mingione and have won 262 games during his tenure, including last season’s school-record 46-win campaign that featured a SEC regular season championship and Mingione’s second National Coach of the Year honor in seven full seasons at the helm.
