Something is wrong when AP Poll is voting UNC no.1 that been cheating for 20 plus years, I guess the voters are thinking it's all right to cheat.

why is duke five? don't they get any inflation for being defending champs? pollsters usually do that for a defending champ with a good recruiting class. and they return some final four players as well. i would have switched them and maryland.

The people who vote on this are about 10 years behind the times.

It's tough to do a preseason poll in this era, when almost any team that matters has lost a lot to the NBA, but defaulting to a team that was decent and lost the least is highly unlikely to actually identify the best team in the country.

duke has alot of unknowns. Dukes only impact player is possibly Ingram, and that has yet to be seen.

Believe me, it's the last thing I want to happen, but how shady and corrupt would the ncaa look this year if unc did win it all? I have a sick feeling about it already. The league is trying to let the cheaters get one more title in before they slap them on the wrist.

We don't have a single returning starter from that FF and UNC has all but 1 back from last year from a team that played pretty well at the end of the year, just couldn't seem to close out teams. I think UNC will be really good, as much as it pains me to say. Add in the fact that we will likely start 3 freshman and I can understand not being #1 to start. In fact, I personally think #2 is a bit high at the moment. I think they'll be the best team come March but not at the moment. The lack of great teams in college bball may be the reason for the #2 ranking, otherwise I just can't see it yet. Too many unknowns right now.

Thought you were grossly exaggerating but you weren't far off. They lost 12 games. I must have been distracted by UK's season because that is way more than I thought they had.

You know who else started 3 freshman? the 2011-2012 UK team. Give me a break. Poythress played in the 2014 Final Four so what the hell is the difference? It is hard to nominate a team outside the Top Ten on this list that has Final Four potential. Vanderbilt might be the best bet as a Dark Horse. And I kinda like Purdue for some reason, though it would be easy to list reasons not to like them.

Vanderbilt just scrimmaged UNC. Anyone know how that turned out? It should be a pretty good measurement for both teams.

Not a top 5 team to start? Looking at rosters across the country, the only team that would scare me early in the year might be Wichita State. Kansas would be really good early with Diallo, but without him I think they are just decent. We have the best talent in the country hands down and a wide open system that freshmen are able to pick up fairly quickly.

I still cant believe how damn blind everybody is. WE (UK) are the best and most talented team in the country. UNC is really good. But they are NOT as good as we are. this will not be one of those years where we struggle early on at times. We have a veteran point guard and a senior PF starting. We have 2 of the top 4-5 players in the country and a shit ton of other really good players. We're gonna be the best damn team all year. We'll only lose 2-3 games. Boo Yah!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the AP voters were confused and thought the idea of the number one ranking was to give that ranking to the program which cheats the most; in which case Carolina is the runaway number one. After that, they got serious and ranked the best basketball teams in their minds 2 through 25

Well a lot of people are expecting the big sophomore jump from Grayson Allen going off the title game performance against Wisconsin. Also expecting Derryck Thornton to at least be a good enough answer in place of Tyus Jones at point guard (he won't replace Tyus).

Wow, you sound like I said we sucked or something. Geez, relax there Kemosabe. Nobody kicked your dog. Just saying I can understand why UNC is ranked ahead of us. Yes, Poy did play is 2014 but has been out a year and nobody knows how he will play yet. Marcus Lee didn't even play very much, so that's a scratch. Ulis is great and that's all there is to that but we did lose 7 players and return something like 14% of our offense. Now, I'm not saying we aren't great but I can understand UNC being ranked ahead of us at this point. If you can not, then OK. We will agree to disagree.
