UH and UF have a combined 1 player projected in NBA 1st round mock draft. Walter Clayton is (deservedly) moving up draft boards. UH guard is expected to be early 2nd round, while UF’s 2 big men are projected mid 2nd round.
Granted, Flagg is a generational talent and Duke probably wins that game 7-8 times out of 10. Duke has 7 players listed in the mock draft (which is rarely accurate.)
But, my point is that young teams, regardless of their talent, cannot be trusted to win a one loss and go home tournament. Duke gifted that game to UH. Talent wins a “best-of” series. Savvy, tough, and older teams can always win one important game.
I still believe in bringing in the best young talent you can get. But, the championship teams will have some very good older players!
