UF's Golden cleared, case closed

It’s been cleared for a couple weeks. I am not sure why Florida’s uaa hasn’t made statement. But attorney obviously felt compelled.
What are your thoughts on Pope as a coach? Do you think he can recruit good enough moving forward?

I'll be curious if IU looks at Golden in a couple months.

The word for a while that this was a coordinated effort by a group of students who were out to get him over his pro-Israel statements from the aftermath of Oct 7th.

There will be some lawsuits being filed after the season.
If that turns out to be factual then they need to lock those students up for a while. Trying to ruin someones reputation and life because you don't like their political affiliation is asinine.

Man when I first heard this, I was suspicious. No way in hell would someone with that high profile of a job be stupid enough to even remotely think about doing the things he was accused of.

Interesting. Didn’t the University itself say they had actual pictures as evidence? If not why even start the investigation. Seems pretty straight forward.

“Hey I have an unsolicited picture of a penis that was sent to me”
“Oh, ok, Let’s see if so we can start an investigation.”

Did it exist or not?

Sadly, having the power associated with a high profile job is exactly what makes the men who end up doing that kind of thing think they can get away with it in a lot of cases. Even more sadly, history has proven them right more than we’d care to admit.

In this particular case though, the allegations were so specifically related to his digital communications with the accusers that it doesn’t seem unreasonable to expect some kind of proof of those communications to exist. Since it apparently doesn’t, then clearing him is the correct decision. The burden of proof is still on the accusing party.

Correct. But that’s why I’m like “Why did this even get this far?” Either there was hard evidence or there wasn’t.”

Seems like something that can be proven or disproven in a week. Much less months.

Exactly the students that accused him of this since he was found innocent they need to be prosecuted for it!

I agree but you also have t9 be careful doing that as well. Sometimes an accuser genuinely believes something happened.

Now, that being said, the accusers should themselves be investigated to see if there was malice. And if so, charges filled.

How do you prove it was him in the picture? Put him in a lineup of random penises? LOL!

No, you can use digital markers and metadata to prove when and where a picture came from. MOST people that send that kind o stuff aren't clever enough to erase that.
I didn’t really need an explanation, I was trying to be funny. That’s why I put a LOL at the end.

My bad. There are folks on the internet that would believe that hardily. Hence my reply.

"They can't prove it was me! My face isn't in it!"
*Police present evidence of metadata, gps location, etc*

I see we still have people saying it was a cover up. Lol. If it happened here there would be outrage and the need to find the fake accusers and tar and feather then.

So the Univ. of Fla cleared its 2nd highest paid employee of Title IX Infractions? Does that mean he didn't do it or they are guilty of Title IX Infractions? I haven't followed that closely, but I don't see how this concludes if he's a creep or not. Did the police look into this? Did she ask them to?

I'm not saying he's guilty either. I just know that when a party with a vested interest in the outcome is responsible for the investigation and decision..... there is always potential for shady doings.

I just read the initial story when this came out in the fall. There were several women. The story was very specific about what he said and did. Obviously the Univ. has decided there isn't evidence. But I bet he doesnt sue after the season either. Why?

Pulled this out of the Alligator Article that first reported all of this:

《According to Snoopreport, a publicly accessible Instagram activity tracking software, Golden unfollowed 118 accounts on the platform between Aug. 1 and Sept. 1. At least 20, if not more, of these accounts appear to have been young women without connection to the Florida basketball program, or any other organizations that Golden had been previously affiliated with. The women separately confirmed that Golden had blocked them rather than unfollowed.》

So the month the stuff hits the fan, he cleans up his Instagram and blocks a bunch of young women?
If I'm Mrs. Golden at home with this guys child ..... I got some hard questions and probably some hard answers coming.

I think he is an outstanding coach. So much of recruiting now is about NIL fund raising. I don’t see that as being an issue.
I was initially concerned bc the immediate response to the hire wasn’t overwhelmingly positive. But I think he has shown his coaching chops, even if some frustrating losses.

They had a photo but Golden proved it wasn’t him because it didn’t have his now notorious alligator tooth Prince Albert piercing.

I have several concerns to be honest with you:

First: I’m scared with his lack of recruiting.

None of his teams ever have been good on defense. He better get more athleticism/physicality.

As good as the offense looks: I don’t think guy can win in March with big man acting as a point guard. I don’t think that leads to success.

Lastly: He’s too nice and strikes zero fear. Goes back to the recruiting aspect…

I hope I’m wrong but I have serious doubts mainly due to recruiting.

Florida Should be announcing this as publicly as they broadcast the original accusations

So the original reports sounded pretty damning - no idea what really happened

There have been a couple of recent pretty high profile sexual assault / battery claims / cases that quickly resolved 100% favorable to the accused

Its interesting to see how some instances of sexual abuse are handled - such an important thing to get right

Getting predators , rapists and traffickers identified and neutralized is critically important to a healthy society

But catching and criminalizing false accusers - opportunists - honey pot setups and the occasional blackmailing campaigns -- have to be sharply contained as well

LoTS of Weird alchemy coming fm just that one angle of reality

Still some competing claims about what actually happened with this, and we may never know the whole truth. Golden and his attorney released that statement that strongly insinuated but stopped just short of outright saying that the claims against him were completely fabricated.

One of the accusers and her attorney are saying that they did have evidence of him behaving questionably, but were informed that it didn’t violate Title IX because she wasn’t a student at UF and the alleged contact didn’t occur in a university sponsored setting. ESPN seems to verify that’s what her letter from the school said in their updated report. That isn’t inherently unbelievable, but it does make me wonder why the Title IX complaint is the route they chose for taking action against him when those qualifiers aren’t exactly arcane parts of the process, and this outcome should have been predictable to them at the outset.

Yeah, agree going the Title IX route was interesting, but maybe what he did was creepy, but didn't violate any state laws. This quote in that article what you talk about:

ESPN on Monday obtained a copy of a letter that the university sent to a female complainant. According to the letter, the Title IX coordinator determined there was no evidence to indicate that sexual harassment "occurred within a university program or activity," and that is why the school had to dismiss the complaint.

I still believe something happened, based on the information that came out in the very beginning. Maybe it didn't violate Title IX, but by no means do I believe this guy is innocent.

Yeah, seems there was a LOT of smoke to start this. I think SOMETHING happened, but we will probably never know the whole truth.
Guy is having a kick ass season, it would take a murder for him to be ousted. Hell, and we've seen even then, that doesn't always matter (*cough* Alabama *cough*)
