That's a surprise, haven't read much about UF since camp started but it seemed Gier(sp) had started pulling away. He is very athletic and quick, wasn't the best passer but a pretty good leader.

The only problem for us is that last year our D was horrific against mobile QBs. If we solve that problem this year we beat FLA and MO.

Maybe that's why they named him the starter.

Actually most teams have problems with mobile QBs becasue it's like having an extra (and sometimes unaccounted for) running back in the game. Even Bama had problems with mobile QBs last year.

The downside with mobile QBs is that their accuracy is usually not very good becasue it's virtually impossible to throw accurate and well timed passes while you are on the move, as opposed to a guy that sets up properly in the pocket.

This was definitely a surprise for a lot of people, but it makes sense given how horrific their offensive line is going to be. A pocket passer is going to get destroyed behind that line.

Yes, I believe they still have him. We might want to try covering him this year.

Would we consider putting a spy on Harris? Maybe bring up a safety? I'm not overly concerned about Harris' arm, and maybe we can get away with leaving a corner on an island....

I read somewhere that the coaching staff plans to run a bunch of Nickel so I bet they will spy on him. Agree with the guy above, let's cover this dude this time.

I'd send 7 or 8 rushers every snap against either UF QB, put 'em on their ass before they can even leave the pocket to cause scrambling problems. lets see if they can get an accurate pass off in under 3 seconds behind their awful O line.

Amen to that! Don't forget a couple of years ago another UF QB not known as a passer came in and set a school record for consecutive completions, like 15 or 16 in a row.

No kidding!!! How many times in recent past has our horrid Defense made a backup/first time starter/true FR type QB look like an instant Heisman candidate!!! Situation that sticks out most for me was the "Conner Shaw" breakout game; I was at that game, was so excited that their starter wasn't going, and he single-handedly torched us...I am sure there are many other times it's happened like that but I have been able to purge most of them from memory...living in heart of Gamecock country though I still hear about that game from coworkers...

Since they only have one elite receiver it shouldn't be that hard to defend the pass.
