UCLA loss look bad now?

Tyler's arm injury, first game back at UCLA, he missed the prior game, missed the 2nd half of the one before that . . . main reason we were certainly not sharp for the Bruins. But credit goes to Alford for having his team well prepared for the game. They executed and won. Simple as that.

I wouldn't be inclined to call the OSU game a bad loss except for the fact that we allowed ourselves to get in a deep hole. For that reason, the loss was bad.

The UCLA loss stunk, we stunk, little debate. Perhaps even more true with Ohio State as at least UCLA was a very distant away game on their home court. But against UCLA, Ulis was injured and even though Lee wasn't having great early impact, he was still lost for the remainder of the game. Ultimately, our defense was poor and you could attribute a lot to inexperience. As many experts have accurately pointed out, this is not last year's team which did have way more experience with those who were contributing. Plus, don't forget that team almost lost at home to Ole Miss.

I do feel it is quite possible that our two losses also helped prepare the team to beat UL and to allow Cal to make the changes to have Skal come off the bench.

LSU is going to be only our second away game on the other team's home court. Hard to predict if the team is ready. But, it is a good game to get out of the way win or lose.

Who cares? Good teams have bad losses all the time. There are no great teams this year, so we'll get our shot.

Both are absolutely terrible losses no question....I don't think either will make the NCAAT

Ulis still with a tender arm in both the UCLA and Ohio State games. He simply wasn't himself in those games. Plus Lee only played 4 minutes vs UCLA.

A healthy Ulis might have made the difference in both games, maybe wins. He's the general and the straw that stirs the drink. Gotta have him at 100%. UK would beat either of those teams by 15+ if they played this week....anywhere!

UCLA loss was a terrible loss. Kansas beat them as bad as we beat Kansas last year, but at least the UCLA loss was somewhat explainable because of the revenge factor and being on their home court. The Ohio State loss however was unexplainable, and just an awful loss.

It was so bad I've suffered traumatic memory loss about it. Did it actually happen?

I thought the OSU loss was far worse; at least at UCLA we had injuries to explain some of the issues.
But neither was a good loss by any stretch - although I guess you could say it was "good" neither game was at home

after my last post I read yours - and decided it was just a bad dream. So no - it didn't really happen ;-)

Last week I was told by several posters I was inaccurate in saying this was a bad loss. Well, UCLA is now 9-6 and 0-2 in conference after dropping both games this week to Washington and Washington St. At this rate they will not even make the tourney, let alone be an elite eight team as these posters told me they will be.
So?

I'm more concerned about the SEC road games to be played than I am about the UCLA and OSU games.

You shouldn't be. We have LOST those 2 games, have not lost any SEC games yet.

The OSU loss was the worst loss since SC late in 2013-2014. It was just completely inexplicable to me, much like that SC loss. Cal has not had many bad losses but OSU this year and SC in that one season are certainly top 5 nominees. Robert Morris has to be up there as well, SEC Tourney loss to Vandy that same season, etc.

And if we don't play well on the road in the SEC and lose too many we are not a very good team and those two won't matter a lot. I don't like losing those games but when you lose 7 players from the previous year, it takes a while to get it together

Virginia lost to VT last night. The same pathetic VT team which has lost to Alabama State and St. Joseph's. So is this a bad loss or does this bad loss theory only apply to UK?
