Last week I was told by several posters I was inaccurate in saying this was a bad loss. Well, UCLA is now 9-6 and 0-2 in conference after dropping both games this week to Washington and Washington St. At this rate they will not even make the tourney, let alone be an elite eight team as these posters told me they will be.

It's not worth worrying about. It was so early in the season, and on the road. It won't affect anything. Losses from here on in are what will weigh on our seeding.

UCLA is not a terrible loss, but it's certainly not a good or quality loss. UK just folded and didn't show up---no more, no less. I guess UCLA could be considered a dangerous team on any night b/c they do have some quality talent-----it just rarely plays well together. Losing to the bruins this year really doesn't effect you guys much......at best you guys drop a few SEC games and head into the conference tourney with 3 or 4 losses.

Honestly, I don't think it matters that much what UCLA does from here on out. No need to scoreboard watch the Bruins. It was the first true road game for a freshman-laden team. I don't think anything UCLA does from now until the end of the season will affect our seeding in any way come March.

I said after we lost that we would look back and see that it was a bad loss on paper. It appears it's coming to be.

Yeah, they lost on the road but will have a lot of nice wins including UK at Pauley. Pac 12 will spend the season beating each other up.

It is what it is. It won't be their last bad loss for this year either. Teams lose on the road.

LOL at this thread just in general. We lost our first road game without our most consistent big man due to injury , mind you , in a game all the way across the country to a team who is a top 30 and has 3-4 NBA players on it . If that is a bad loss then any loss is a bad loss . Just idiotic beyond all measure to even bring this up . OSU was a bad loss as they aren't going dancing and maybe , maybe have 1 pro on their team. But to call the UCLA loss a bad loss would be silly. But really at this point who even cares as we are in SEC play , that's what so sad about this thread .

Yeah, both UCLA and OSU are bad losses. Both will end up with 12+ losses and will either be borderline or out of the NCAA field.

Did anyone think UCLA wasn't going to lose some games? So it was inevitable that when they did lose a game to some team they maybe shouldn't, we would get these threads.

It was a bad loss but there is not much point in worrying about it. The early season won't matter as much as what happens in mid to late Feb. Ohio St won't shoot 3's like they did against us the rest of the year. If we string enough wins together in Feb it won't matter much, if we don't then it may come back to haunt us

Losing at IU in 2011 was a bad loss. How'd that work out for UK?

I get the point but I wouldn't call that a bad loss considering IU (which wasn't ranked at the time) was a 4 seed in the tournament later that year. Posters are calling UCLA a bad loss because UCLA might not make the tournament at all.

Weird season so far.

Even though the margin of victory was only two, UL was never really in the game against us. Same thing with Duke. Aside from the Murray outburst at the end, the UCLA and OSU games were exactly the opposite.

Is it a bad loss? Who cares, really? I think the team has some worrisome weaknesses (shooting, free throws, interior strength, unsure defense) but the UCLA game itself won't mean anything in March. Just keeping winning and UK will get a high seed in the tournament.

Good point. I forgot that Lee only played 4 minutes that game and Skal is still adjusting to college level. In addition, UCLA played out of their asses.

Good job OP. You deserve a cookie. Both UCLA and OSU are bad losses. UK just needs to win games and they'll be fine. We're not a championship team yet anyway, so what's the big deal?

I disagree that UL was never in the game with us...they were leading a great deal of the first half, and had a 3 that would have won the game at the buzzer. So the term "NEVER" is a big stretch.

I'm not worried about the loss either, but UCLA has no guarantee of making the NCAA tournament.

I just want to be the first to give everyone in this thread that predicted UCLA would not be a good loss a hand clap. You guys earned it...seriously.

I actually said it would be a bad loss, then I said it was a good loss, now I'm back claiming my original statement. If they start winning Again I'm gonna look like a bigger flip flop than I already am and call it a good loss.

I need them to be more consistent.

It's a bad loss. But 2014 cats had a bad loss to a South Carolina team towards the end of the season and I think it motivated them. Maybe our two losses have motivated out guys. Two fairly early losses.

Just keep winning and it won't matter.

I hate when people start threads to say they were right about something they WEREN'T right about at the time they initially said it.

I demand that all the people who told the OP that UCLA was not a bad loss spend one hour in the Cone of Shame. I hope you have all learned your lesson about having a different opinion. Kudos to the OP for this thread setting the record straight! He deserves a pat on the back -- in addition to the one he has given himself.

I thought a bad win was an oxymoron until I visited Rupp rafters for the first time in 2001.

I think he's implying "the vision". He had it, others didn't.

It's not something I'd be concerned about, and I would expect to have a few more. We're gonna lose some games that don't look good. Focus on improving for the postseason.

Yeah I never understand these "I told you so" posts. Even when they actually were right to begin with, which is a rarity, it is just not something I think most people would ever do. Even on the interwebs where I understand it is a different landscape, it is still pretty tacky. JMO

It was a loss. That's it. We've had nearly 700 of them. Move on. How about that win over Ole Miss?

True. I usually refrain from starting post all together.
