Tyler Ulis looks like he hates his life

I have no sympathy for Ulis. As with the players who followed Cal, he is getting just what he deserves. Ulis certainly knew that Cal can't coach. I have no idea why he wanted to be a member of that sad bunch of assistant coaches. It would be understandable if he was doing it at Kentucky, but certainly not at Arkansas.

If Arkansas actually had a vision for their program and not just a giant pile of money to spend, they would fire Cal after this game and hire Ulis. I think he would attract players with his personality and relatability and he’d quickly become a dominant name in recruiting circles with his unlimited connections.

Feel kind of bad for Tyler but he brought this on himself.
Yeah I agree but have a little sympathy bc I do understand his feelings of needing to be loyal to Cal. His life was looking really grim for a second after his accident and Cal threw him a literal lifeline allowing him to join our staff. He’s talked about how depressed and heading down the wrong road he was. I can understand his personal reasons for not wanting to appear to “pick pope over cal” if both places were offering him a position

Ummm Cal was his only way to get a coaching job. Pope wanted none of the assistants to stay. So you wanted him to not have a job instead of taking the only one he could get???

I really like Ulis and Calipari looks defeated this year.

After this loss, the heat is on Calipari and if he lasts more than 2 years I would be surprised. It's a sickening feeling how close we came to another terrible year under Calipari.

Kentucky basketball is fun, nerve racking as hell, and back. They have a better chance at winning the title than anyone in the nation.

Gotta be wondering how he can get out of that dumpster fire before his coaching career is totally destroyed.

He definitely wouldn’t lose more games that’s for sure.

I feel bad for Tyler. He was climbing back up the ladder and stepped over to the wrong one. Given what I have seen from him I trust that he will get himself righted. After all, he was the embodiment of the "Little Big Man" while he was at Kentucky. He never back downed from anybody and nobody walked him down. He displayed traits that we all admire and I think his resilence will get keep him in the cycle for a future head coaching position. This is a major bump in the road, but he will right the ship.

Yeah, we have some silly fans as usual. People on here keep bashing Ulis for not taking a job not offered at UK or for the former 3 players not staying when they were not offered a spot.

Yeah I agree , Even with Cal picking him up after the accident ( who knows the details ??) he had to know Cal was a terrible coach . There should be no denying this , he should have jumped off board instead of volunteering his head for the chopping block . Elections have consequences I've heard before , well he elected to go to Arky with a washed up coach .

I noticed that. That whole bench looks unhappy. And they were winning when I saw
Well, Tyler will come home someday, but for now, there's a harsh reminder for him during his decision to spend a year in exile:

That’s a bit of a stretch.

Tyler Ulis is a house hold name for Kentucky fans, not the rest of the country.

Love Tyler Ulis, wish he wasn’t at Arkansas but I’m not going to speak ill of him. Not sure he had a choice to stay if he wanted to. Pope seemed to clean ship. Now the rest of the staff and players, hope they loose every game and booed out of the gym in Rupp.

I am over the former UK coach, but I know some UK fans are still obsessed with him (in a negative way). As for me, I only care about UK in the present and future.
But when Ark visits Rupp I'm sure the Ark-coach will get lots of boos (by those obsessed with him). I on the other hand, I wish instead, there would be a brief "Tyler, Tyler, Tyler" or a quick (1 iteration) "Tyler Ulis - clap clap clap" when the Ark staff takes the court. Then after those 5 seconds have passed, everyone there in marron is our enemy.

I don't think he is a fit at UK now. Maybe some place like, oh, Houston Baptist head assistant and possible head job. Just random. No offense Houston Baptist or Ulis.
I think the question you were replying to was asking if Ulis actually has the degree qualifications to coach at UK. Pretty sure you need a college degree. Does anyone know if Ulis went back and finished his? To my knowledge he wasn't a formal assistant at UK, he was a student/graduate assistant.

Ullis was finishing up his degree at UK when the summer tournament was going on. That is why he was still in Lex. And he did have interactions with Pope over the summer. I would not be heart broken to see him on the UK bench when we have a spot come open. Pope may be spitting out coaches like Sabin did.
