Cal just said in his presser that Ulis is probably the best floor general he's ever had.

Said he's not necessarily the best overall guard. But that he's the best leader on the court. He said Ulis calls plays without instruction and moves guys around the court.

High praise for Tyler!! Can't wait to see him in action!

Just went on to say that the other players respect him and listen to him. He's asked Tyler to be a leader on the floor and to lead off the court by being around the guys a lot. He asks him to be in the gym first and be the last to leave.

Having continuity at the point should be huge for us again this year as it was last year.

While I've really liked Cal's big PGs, I love that he's given the reigns to Ulis. Dude can just flat out play. His passing isn't a work in progress like some of these guys, it's just totally natural.... flip it backwards to an in stride WCS? No problem.

I absolutely can't wait to see him play the majority of the minutes at PG. It's going to be a rare treat.

I don't know if it's related but Cal said you kinda luck out when you miss in a guy. It's a blessing in disguise That could be interpreted as the kid had baggage or the kid wasn't a good fit or it opened the door for another player. Like Ulis. I think Ulis was one of the best things that ever happened. He is not a prototypical Cal guard but he has become everything Cal wants out of his floor general. It makes Cals job easier having someone lead. Cal said many times to Teague and Andrew that you have to be their leader I can't always be the guy

You may be right. I'd love to know if he had someone specific in mind.

I'm more excited about Ulis as a returning player than I have been about anybody in a long time. When I watched him in his first road game as a true freshman drive a dagger into UL, I knew we had somebody special.

I think it's true and is obvious to anyone paying enough attention to Cal's past success. His elite talent at pg over the years really haven't had enough time with Cal to gain as much trust in his lead guards. Tyler Ulis is that kid. He's the elite talent. The only difference being his frame being so small so the NBA would be worried about. He's going to be a good player in the pros. You can measure height, but not heart. Ulis has that "IT" factor about him.

He's awfully special. Made an immediate impression on me in the Bahamas. From the first minute he stepped on the floor, he looked like a poised veteran.

Not so fast, my friend! I hope he does break records, but there are a host of guys that have set the bar high as UK pgs. This is just his sophomore season, so he's still got to prove it on the court.
