not that i'm condoning...but I believe this may occur a little bit more regularly than folks would like to admit...especially in female sports...
just read a story about a female coach marrying her female assistant...I imagine that as we progress into a more socially liberal society these things will come out more and not really cause a stir...
In the era of love who or what you want...guys being girls and vice versa...use what ever bathroom pleases you...I think we have to look at this as not a major deal...
he is a young man with young man impulses...so it's not as if it is some 60 year old coach...but even then if society says love who you want even if it's just for a night, then you can't really cry about age...so long as everything was consensual...if he was just joe nobody and came across the girl at a bar and had a heated evening...it would be nothing...
this just happens to be seen as taboo because he is a coach...and I would agree that it is probably inappropriate and deserving of him walking away...but scandal of the century hardly...
think of it as a work place encounter...
and I think for him growing up in the women's sports world he probably has seen or at least heard of enough hush hush type relationships that it might not have seemed like a huge deal to him...
again trying pat him on the back...just looking at it as something that probably occurs...
Being a coach is like being a teacher. When you are in a position of power dealing with young people (yes college kids are young people), it is not appropriate to abuse the trust and power that you have from these young people. If you are just a 30 something guy at a bar, have sex with all of the 18-22 year olds you want. But when parents entrust their kids to you so that you can coach them and help them mature at a time in their life that they are vulnerable, you can't have sex with them, consensual or not. It isn't really consensual if you are in a position of power over them.
