Two really good teams

That was a classic SEC battle between the Gators and the Wildcats. I was wowed and impressed by the intensity and skill level on the court. The coaches exploited weaknesses and mismatches like veteran tacticians. Both sides hit some tough shots and made clutch defensive plays. It was entertaining.

Florida:
Clayton Jr is a baller plain and simple. He was last year and he is this year.

Martin turned into prime Jordan hitting mid range fadeaways 2 times in a row and then a counter move layup and then a step back 3.

Chinyelu had two incredible blocks on posterizing attempts. I couldn’t believe he got both of those.

Their team rebounding was admirable, Condom seemed to always be in the mix and gave the Gators multiple second chances.

Kentucky:
Rupp looked/sounded amazing and the environment certainly helped the team.

Brea is a baller plain and simple. He had one play when the cats were up 6 with 6 minutes left and he hit a 3 to give a bit of breathing room. His use of shot fakes on that one was masterful, he went behind the back and did a side step to create space and nailed it.

Butler was just so damn good. He is an absolute menace on defense and just has a knack for making timely plays that swing the game on both ends of the court.

Oweh had some tough finishes and big time moments. I still can’t believe he got that dunk attempt blocked, that was going to be nasty.

Williams looked like he was going to get bullied out of the game by Chinyelu after the first few minutes, he was getting sealed and pushed around easily. He rose to the challenge though and matched that physicality as the game went along. He was the best big guy on the court and ended up having an excellent all around game.

Carr hit the 3 that really iced the game. He stepped up when the situation called for it.

The bench held down the fort and made contributions of their own. That Perry 3 felt like a confidence booster.

It was an interesting game. Both teams played great. If you’re Florida, what would you be critical of? Usually, the losing team can point to a couple of things that cost them the game. In this one, I’m not sure what you would point to. That rarely happens in college basketball.

Good positive analysis, unfortunately some of our negative Nancy's on here ,would rather biatch about our defenciencies, instead of our positives and the HUGE win we had.

Kinda hard to put that on Florida. That was 25,000 screaming fans trying to lift their team to victory AND get free Chic-fil-A.
I do not understand this state’s fascination with Chick-Fil-A. The one in Richmond literally causes traffic problems. I mean…it’s chicken. Yay?

We are so fortunate to have our BBN brothers and sisters. These posts are the reasons I come to Rupps Rafters. Great post!

Free throw shooting: 22 for 35. They shoot 70% they win the game.
