Two Players Transfering?

The coaching staff have had little to say about either player during the fall camp. Neither looked to be headed for the 2 deep next year. They did the team a favor by freeing up two rides for next year. I wish these two well wherever they are headed next.

Surprised about Hendrix. When he played in the spring game as basically a SR in HS; I thought he looked really good. Good size, and could fill a hole even then. Im guessing his speed isnt up to par.

Hope they both land on their feet.

I though he looked heavy and slow, but attributed that to him being new to the defense and to Korem's program.

Best of luck to both guys if it is those two. Hate to see guys leave that wanted to come here, but if they can transfer and play/help another program I wish them nothing but the best.

Agree, best of luck to each one.

So opens two Scholly's for next season....with Jones being dismissed from the team last week...maybe 3?

Two nice young men and I wish them the best. Both have been recruited over. Think Love will make it and Kash enrolling in January imo were factors.

Plus we were getting a look at him against the talent we're used to seeing in blue and white; so that helped his case. Just shows how much the talent pool has increased since Stoops has been here. We wouldve killed for kids like this in the past, now the cant even sniff the field.

The timing is weird but not the out come. Thought they would probably transfer after the season. Best of luck though. They seemed like good kids and teammates.

I'm guessing both are 4th string with little chance of moving up next year

This just proves UK should always plan on signing full 25 classes, attrition of some kind always happens to everyone

I disagree now is the time o transfer if they are going to transfer. If they go to a lower level they get to play this season and if they transfer at the same level after sitting out they still have 3 years eligibility if they waited until next year they only have 1 year of eligibility.

Hytchye has not RSed. So, as I understand it, he could stay at UK, RS, and then transfer, sit out a year, and have his 2 years remaining under the new transfer rule. Not sure why he would want to do that.

If Hendrix stayed, he would use a year of eligibility. But, could transfer, sit a year, and have his two years remaining. If he leaves now, he will have 3 years at his new school

I was wrong about Hyalphabet. I thought he was a redshirt like Hendrix.

I believe you are wrong about Hyachye being able to stay at UK and redshirting and than play somewhere else the next year. I think he would have to be enrolled in his new school and redshirt there to play next year.

Both could play this year if they drop down a division to FCS football.

No. Jaleel could stay and RS. Then he could transfer and sit a year. Under the new rule, the RS year would not be held agains him and he could have his 2 years at the new school. But, he could not harship.

As I understand the new rule.

It's not really surprising. The same thing has been happening at Tennessee with attrition. Frankly, if a coach is recruiting well and upgrading talent quickly, some players aren't going to be able to keep up and will transfer for playing time. I think it's a good sign about where Stoops is taking the talent level.

Good summary.

When true freshmen start passing you on the depth chart it is not a good sign.

Should be a win/win for both parties, and I wish them the best, transferring for the right reasons. And I do think they contributed some to UK's progress, even if only by making our recruiting look better at the time, they added to the buzz.

lulz. Weren't you calling out Tennessee for this very thing?

Roster Management and making way for a bigger class.

You should be glad - sign you are signing better players and making room for more and better athletes.

No.

TU was being called out for oversigning and then running players off after a short tryout.

There is a difference, although you can't seem to understand it.

I was watching one of the football programs on ESPN the other day and while talking about all the freshmen you are using they mentioned the THIRTY FIVE commits TU had (in 14 I believe), and I know for sure they had well over thirty (Rivals commit list above) when they used the new loophole they found in the recruiting rules a couple of years ago, but now you don't claim any of that.

Hendrix and Hytcyhe

I know ul was hard after Hytcyhe when we landed him. Any chance he tries to get on there? With our recruiting he wont break the 2 deep but they have not been recruiting as well and he would get playing time there. Would Stoops release him to ul?

UK has had a policy of not releasing transfers to teams on our schedule, so UL is a no go

All that typing to say it's different. Lol.

This is not that. In fact, Stoops has not over signed because he does not want to be dishonest with recruits. That position can put him in a pickle. Had he over signed this year, we would have replacement players for the three that did not make it this year. Stoops is doing what is right for them, even though it might not be best for him.

I remember Hendrix being one of the more vocal ones of his class on social media. Seems like he was vital in keeping that class together. I hate that things didn't work out for him.

It would be stupidity for a kid with a redshirt that is transferring to stay at UK and take that redshirt when he could go to his new school and learn the schemes there while redshirting. He would also lose another year of eligibility because he would still have to sit out after the transfer. I also think you are wrong about the way you see the new rule. The sixth year of eligibility is "only" for hardship transfers that have already redshirted. If their hardship is granted they get 6 to play 4 and do not lose a year of eligibility because of the transfer.

I have not seen that either of the kids transferring from UK have applied for a hardship transfer.

Neither is going to be taking a redshirt at UK this season unless they are morons.

Hendrix unless he is granted a hardship transfer is going to lose a year of eligibility while he sits out because he has already redshirted.

No. There is no hardship transfer rule. The sixth year is for all transfers. That is my understanding. That is how the NCAA gets around abuse. Everyone sits and there is no consideration to hardship excuses.

I'm not actually seeing a distinction between what UK is doing and what big boy SEC teams are doing. Technically any time you are signing over 25 in a season, whether that be 29 or 32, you are using loopholes to over-sign. I don't know of a single SEC program that has actually told a kid they have to leave the program, but once they realize they are never going to catch up on the depth chart they choose to move on. This is something that happens at every program that is trying to win, it didn't have at UK much under Joker because he kept the dead weight around. Stoops clearly doesn't.

The knock on Jaleel coming out of HS was that he was a track guy trying to play football. Example of how the star rating system is not always right (he was a 4 star by some services). The knock on Hendrix was that he lacked the speed to play in the SEC but a good hitter and nose for the ball.

Have nothing but respect for these two. They came to UK when others would not and took the lead in being very vocal with other recruits which helped the staff a great deal in getting the quality they got out of the 13 and 14 classes. Jaleel was a huge help in recruiting Hatcher and others last minute and also helped with Edwards.

That all said, college football (especially major D1 football) is a tough business (yes, its a business). I hate these two are leaving, but it also shows the overall quality on the roster is being improved. Very few can thrive playing competitive football in the SEC. We have seen over the years MANY who played at KY who had no business playing at an SEC school and it did many of them no good getting beat every week by bigger, stronger, and more talented athletes. Hopefully these two find a place that is a good fit and allows them to compete at a level that gets them more playing time.
