Any recommendations for restaurants? What's the best Steak House? What's the best Barbecue restaurant?

Thanks for your help......

Malone's is a terrific steakhouse..I recommend the filet. It's on Tate's Creek Road.

Pies and pints. Can't beat the pizza can't beat the beer list and can't beat the location. If the weather is nice you can park at Rupp and walk down to it.

If you just want food, then all of the foregoing are great suggestions - particularly the Merrick Inn, which is, for my money, the best upscale restaurant in Lexington. But if you want the nostalgia of what It was like 50 years ago to have a steak before or after a U.K. basketball game, go to the North Limestone location of Columbia's Steakhouse. It's been there since 1948 - the year the 'Cats won the first of our eight (8) NCAA Championships ! It's been a long time since I've been there, but I can't imagine that it's changed very much.

HopCat for beer (120 on tap) and crack fries
Why haven't I known about this place before? Holy hops that's a lot of really good beer on tap from their website. Are they new? Because they're not on trip advisor. Next stop in Lexington will be Hopcat for sure! Is it a restaurant too? I mean can I take the family?

It just opened a week or so ago. And yea it is a restaurant as well.

I LOVE Malone's, unbelievable restaurant.

Besides that, you gotta give Tolly Ho a try, Hugh Jass Burgers isn't bad either

Hugh Jass doesn't exist anymore. It was taken over by a far better restaurant called Street Craves.

Really?! Wow. I haven't been back to Lexington in 2-3 years now, but I loved it when I lived there.

What kind of restaurant is Street Craves?

Unfortunately man..... Street Craves is amazing, with good beer selection, Has Burgers, Tacos, Salads, one of my favorite is the fried pickles. For the healthy and unhealthy. Tons of options.

Merrick Inn, best food & ambiance in town.

Billy's BBQ in Chevy a Chase.

Bradford BBQ in Zandale Center. Trust me on this.

I think Merrick Inn is over-rated. When we had friends in recently we took them to Portofino's. Day in, day out, I don't think there's a better dish in town than Portofino's risotto. Both are very $$$.

If you don't want to stray from the downtown area, stick to Short Street or Jefferson. From 6th street to Main there isn't a bad place on Jefferson. At least, we've never eaten at one. There's a breakfast/lunch place my wife's eaten at, but if they do dinner, it's only recently. Other posters will know the name.

seriously, where can i get some of those.

at Hop Cat, like i originally said. I had read about them being good and all but assumed they were hype. Easily the best fries I've ever had. Awesome rotating beer list. I also had a burger there. It was pretty meh. But good lord those fries.

That's great.

It's a killer location! I have to think it'll do pretty well.
