I thought this listen made me smarter. Maybe you too.

I think the point about beefing up your personnel staff is a good one. UK knows about the NIU tackle, I’m assuming, only because they played against him. It’s hard to know what diamonds are at smaller programs who can contribute immediately. I also support the idea of the first window not opening until February to stop transfers during bowl season, and to own the news cycle, but I’m not sure how that impacts academics if transferring from one semester based university to another.

A new era provides opportunities to teams that adapt the fastest. UK’s 2021 portal success was much better than its 2022 and the results showed on the field to some extent.

After two years I’m honestly surprised how much the portal matters.

If they won't push back the window for transfers then move the bowl season up. It's stupid to have a month layoff anyway. I know back in the day it was special to get a bowl because there were fewer of them and you got a leg up with the extra practices. But now there are so many bowls and very few P5 teams that don't get to one, so what advantage are you really getting? I mean when was the last time Vandy has been to a bowl and they just beat us at home? We've had 64 more organized practices than them over the past 4 years and it didn't do us any good. Plus with all the transfers now, do the extra practices really matter anyway. You're probably gonna lose 1/2 of your team each season with graduation and transfers.

If those timelines don't work, then move up the start of the season. I know it's hot in August but playing a night game in August wouldn't be terrible. I know the greedy tv networks would get in the way but maybe something could get worked out.
