Which player is better? A freshmen that is a top 20 player, or a junior that was top 75 out of high school?

Where would a junior, who was top 75 coming out of high school, rank in this year's recruiting class after two years of experience (weight lifting, college practices, etc)

So again, who is the better player? A top 20 freshmen, or a junior that was top 75 when they came out?

Near impossible decision based on only recruit rankings. That junior may not have improved at all and the freshman could be Fox or he could be Skal. Too many variables.

But a top 75 kid who stays usually gets better. Frank Mason, Joel Berry, Trey Burke, Derek Willis, Kennedy Meeks, Jodi Meeks, etc. Maybe I don't see all the ones who don't though.

How do you define better?

For every one of those players you have a Jack Richards or Tedore Gallahan.

Some people place way too much emphases on rankings. There are numerous great players who were not ranked high (or at all), like Steph Curry. Or to look at UK players I don't think Mashburn or Prince were top 20 (I think they were in the 20's). Hayes was in the 40's. Not sure Daniels was even ranked. On the other side Skal was top 5. So was Marvin "hands-of" Stone. So is that top 20 Fox or Skal, is that top 75 Curry or Desmond Allison.

So to answer your question, there is no way to tell.
