ESPN is reporting that Texas has fired Athletic Director Steve Patterson and will pursue Jurich. Louisville won't be able to match Texas' offer.

That's a Win-Win for UL haters. Any new AD at Louisville would conclude the Pitino-Petrino moral cesspool was an embarrassment that needed to be cleaned up, which would lead to rebuilds in both sports. And Jurich would be way over his head at a major league program with a tradition of dignified behavior, and would soon implode.
Not a chance he leaves UL. Jurich knows he runs this town and no other semi-relevant program would allow him to run the program/school/media as he does at UL. Jurich knows it. Other schools know it. The only people who don't are the brainwashed masses throwing up their "L's" and the Louisville media who will spin this to show how UL is a better school than Texas and that Jurich is so #L1C4 that he would turn down control of the Cowboys, Patriots and Packers to be able to wear that old-English "L" on his chest.

OTOH....Texas is a HUGE and prestigious job. He is after all just the AD at LilBro...a commuter college reputation-wise.
At Texas he will not be able to control the media or the rest of the university like he does here. Louisville is a great place to live. Austin is a college town, state capitol and VERY liberal. I don't think Jurich is as liberal as Austin and he would NEVER have been able to hire Petrino at Texas. So although I am sure he would entertain the idea of it...I doubt he leaves LilBro unless he feels that Pitino will be impossible to replace and that Petrino is not going to get the job done long term. That could allow him to say, mission accomplished....its time to move on.

It is hard to imagine the University of Texas hiring Mr. Jurich as athletics director. His experience with such a small, and generally insignificant program would not make you think he would have the needed skills to run such a program as Texas. But then, again, they did hire Charley Strong who also did not have the requisite resume for a program like Texas so who knows what they might do.

Texas is a better job for the A.D. position just like it is for the football position. why? because UL is #2 in the state and there is some evidence that UL is #2 even in their city with UK possibly having more fans there... Texas is the big brother of their state.

Jurich want have full control of any program like he has at Louisville, but if he goes will he take pitino & Petrino with him.
I'd be willing to bet the boosters down in Texas wouldn't let Petrino near their campus, let alone be their coach. The guy's reputation is poison in the coaching world and he's not exactly lighting it on fire this year. Texas will go for a sure-fire, big-name hire that isn't bringing more baggage than a drama queen on a three-week party bender in Vegas.
After another year or so, Jurich may want to distance himself from Petrino because if he's not winning big, his asshole ways are suddenly magnified.
Also, Jurich covers Petrino's ass and if UofL got a new AD, Petrino's shenanigans might not be tolerated.
Petrino is probably praying that Turtleneck stays put.
Plus otis will match whatever UT offers...won't be able to have the mafia type control in Texas over media, law enforcement , boosters and fanbase like at otis

He also figured that he'd have more HS talent available to him in Texas.
His stock was never going any higher and he was never going to be offered a bigger job than Texas...

The city of Louisville is not better than the city of Austin...nor is it bigger. Austin is as big as Louisville and probably more professional due to a larger university combined with the Capitol of Texas. Louisville is a very nice place but it isn't better than Austin....just different. Austin has much finer looking women....but Jurich is 59 and he probably does not care. Now Petrino and Pitino......different story.
I don't see him leaving UL. Why would he want to? Like others have said already, he has the media in his back pocket and can do no wrong with them. The man walks on water in the ville. Why would he risk losing that much power? At Texas, that all changes and so does his power.
Why? Possibly because he has grown to believe his own press clippings that he wrote about himself and have been parroted by the lazy media. If he believes that he is as good as he has propagandized that he is...well he might like to try it on a bigger stage. In Texas he'd be at Big Brother. Maybe he feels that he has done all that he can with the pig known as LilBro.
I hope he stays at UL. He's made a mockery of UL by making them second chance U. Lost to UK basketball more times than not and is trending downwards in football as well. Houston is not a great football team and UL was on a collision course with a national title and got beat by a mid major.
I believe that Texas and UL are 1-2 in total income from athletics. Unless the bidding for Jurich's services became psychotic, UL could probably match any Texas offer.

Dicktino is getting old, his son will be replacing him as head coach and daddy is the AD in waiting. Neckbracetrino is about to go crazy cause he will never have a team better then a middle of the pack ACC team if that. Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and will try and cash in before retiring.
I think there is a possibility that he could go to Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas and that would fit his ego.
