Had great offenses when OC at OH St, did okay at TX but not good enough for their fan base. If we move on from Hamdan, would he be a candidate that we would want to talk to?

Herman was considered a no-miss head coach just a few years ago. He literally had multiple offers and took the biggest salary with the most football tradition. It was also in a talent rich state with boosters throwing $ at the program.
He’s exhibit A that hiring a new coach is a crap shoot. The statement is not connected in anyway to Stoops, Sumrall, or any coaching decision. It’s simply the reality that about 1 in 3 new coaches are successful.

Not sure why you believe that. I may be mistaken, but OSU won the Natty with Herman as OC and their 3rd string QB who sliced and diced every opponent. Had really good years at Houston (I believe they beat Lamar and the Ville in a key game with him at the helm) before moving on to TX. I don't recall that his offenses weren't any good there, either, but I may just not remember accurately.
I am curious why you believe he's a horrible OC in light of what we've got right now. I'm not saying that he SHOULD be on the short list but only WOULD he be a consideration if we move away from Hamdan who, imo, has been very disappointing from a lot of different standpoints.
Good to great OCs are good & great because they have first, a really good QB, OL, RB, and WRs. Do you think we have these things to make a OC look great? Just asking!
Agree with everything you said. But, we'll literally never have good to great personnel at all offensive positions, so, using your logic, we won't ever have a good OC. That, I don't buy.
We have no identity on offense anymore. We have poor football IQ in the current OC, imo. I base that on many decisions that have been made over the course of this season that are plain illogical. Any system would work with all SEC players at every position. We're never going to be there talent-wise. We need an OC who can adapt his system to the personnel every year, who can make in-game adjustments, who coach up the QBs so they can audible when necessary and our backup QB doesn't look so unprepared when called upon. Someone who knows how to exploit weaknesses in the defense, who can identify matchups that we should attack. The thing I like about Herman (very limited info base, admittedly) is he uses dual threat QB, some RPO, some PA, etc.
My opinion of his system is that is doesn't require the 6'-3", 225 lb NFL sized QB to work. And I believe we can recruit to a system like that and create an offensive identity again.
This guy seems like he’s a first class jerk. He makes headlines for everything but coaching. He’s immature. Prime example of a coach who is not a head coach. He needs to be reined in too much. High opinion of himself, needs to look in the mirror. One positive, he has a good looking old lady.
I don't think it is the OC, Stoops could reduce Mumme to a 3 yards and a cloud of dust play caller
