Says a lot about how the former players, Pre Cal, feel about the state of this transient program.
Heitz ..who’s always been a loyal blue-bleeding alum …has had a few comments along these lines in recent years. Seems pretty clear that he and other players from his era ain’t happy with the way the program is now being run.
In another few years at most, if left unchecked, Indiana fans may be making fun of UK. (They are now but it is not as provable,.... yet...)
It all started around natural disasters on social media and people marking themselves safe. So I see the correlation here I mean it’s like a hurricane has ripped right through the program with Cal running it into the ground!
Even our legacies are distancing themselves from the obvious and epic fail...
I take it as sarcasm, as if he is saying the world is not collapsing

Sam Bowie was an All-American and he said if UK didn't win the National Championship it was Cal's fault.
Both of those former players and many others are SICK of what Cal has done to the program.
Bowie was joking with Cal when he said that. D.J. Wagner already has more career points that Tom Heitz.
And how good were you?

And Cal just said that Sam told him he was going to say that, he didn't say he was joking either. He actually said that Sam could throw darts because everyone else has.
But you believe what you want. I KNOW how the former players feel.
So you know what the former players feel, but the people interviewing them don't. Fair enough.
If you think about it….that’s when our downfall started. When Bowie said that our team fell apart, lol .
He’s a former UK player who’s remained a highly-respected member of the UK community over the ensuing four decades …so yeah, I’ll venture to say his opinion is far more worthy of attention here than yours.
And he wasn’t that bad of a player, he was just in over his head in terms of the competition for playing time. He was an unathletic 6’8” big who had dudes like Sam Bowie, Kenny Walker and Mel Turpin ahead of him …in an era where they stayed all four years.
He could’ve transferred and started elsewhere, but decided he’d rather be a bench player at Kentucky than play anywhere else. You don’t see that sort of thinking in today’s transfer portal era. And I think it’s worthy of respect.
That does seem ironic. But in Sam's defense, this decline started LONG before his comments, actually about 4 years ago.
Hopefully more older former players will address the situation as well
Only defense is to personally attack anyone that questions Cal. Because there’s no defending how low Cal has taken our once great program.
The denial by Cal’s fans is just embarrassing at this point.

Regular as clockwork, the Cal Shieldbearers throw former players under the bus in order to protect the carpetbagging salesman.

Did you coach at UK? Is that the new requirement to criticize someone's performance? You had to have the same position and do it better? Come on. I have plenty of thoughts on Cal's performance that are not positive. I just think that it is week for everyone on this board to hijack every thread with criticizing Cal and then relying on some player from 40 years ago that scored less points in 4 years than most of our freshman score in 1. This board has gotten to where no one can discuss anything without it degenerating in to a "unless you agree that Cal sucks" we are going to attack you thread. I get it, you think Cal sucks. No need to hijack every thread that is trying to discuss player injuries or point spreads or whatever that some people would like to discuss without being bashed for not wanting our coach fired.
WTF, man? YOU’RE the one who first sent this thread off the misguided logic rails by suggesting Heitz’ opinion doesn’t count because he wasn’t a great player.
You pretty much forfeited your ability to credibly question anybody else’s right to criticize anything after that nonsense.
... such a disrespectful comment and totally uncalled for. The man has an opinion that is many times more valid than any of us seeing that he is a former four-year scholarship player.
