2016 CB Tobias Gilliam

So, the class of 2016 has asked us fans (via twitter) to follow Tobias Gilliam and show him some love on twitter.
We need to get this done quickly, and show these recruits that we're committed, as fans, to this program and getting good players into this program.
A little bit about Tobias Gilliam. The kid looks like another stud that the staff and recruits in the 2016 class has their eyes on. He has excellent size at the position, 6'1, 185# and only in his junior year of high school. He also runs a 4.51 forty.
He stays with his man stride for stride, disrupts passes very well, hits like a linebacker, and when he plays special teams/field goal defense, the kid is lightning quick off the edges. Give him a look, I'll leave a link to his hudl account/highlight reel.

I'll leave a link to his twitter account in this post. Remember folks, recruits love it when fans get engaged in their recruitment, they eat the attention up. It helps us in more ways than that though. If we go out and show some love when the 2016 recruits ask for our help, the commits will take note of that.
Let's give the commits a reason to stay and keep using this approach to contact top recruits, and give recruits a lot of reasons to commit.

Notta problem Patrick. I'm just reading along the twitter page and seeing who the class wanted us to look into and show some love to.
This class has a ton of potential, I'm already excited to get them here.

Re: 2016 CB Tobias Gilliam

Well, looks like the kid doesn't want to play football anymore. Says he wants a scholarship in basketball.
Tough road to get a kid to Kentucky in basketball if he isn't top 3 or top 5 at his position.

Rha thanks for these. The BBN has done a good job helping to keep these recruits interested. We all know it is just human nature to be wanted. I truly believe the BBN has helped in recruiting.

Re: 2016 CB Tobias Gilliam

Or better yet have him sign for football and be a walk on for the bb team. Be a part of a NC contending teams

Over the summer http://TheWolverine.com listed Gilliam as a top performer at Michigan's camp. Made comparison to Rivals250 safety Kinnel.
That's amazing news. Very excited about reeling this kid in. I'm excited to see how he progressed. He believes that he has what it takes to be a 5 star, and based on his physical tools and performances like this with players like Kinnel, I'm inclined to agree with him.

Agreed on all points

Not to be a downer, but this guy's offer list is Cincinnati, Indiana and several MAC schools. Why exactly are we recruiting him?

Because the Staff recognizes talent when it sees it.... Don't be a Debbie Downer.....:)

Or.. hear me out, model concept here..
You could watch his highlight videos, and read the quote where he performed as well as a very highly ranked safety at the Michigan camp.
You could even try to recognize that the 2016 recruiting season just started for most schools. Have your pick.

Re: 2016 CB Tobias Gilliam

Please, don't start that crap. He will blow up and we will be holding our breath. Just watch.

Wish we had fans that were the same caliber as the recruits Stoops is getting.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

Each class this coaching staff has evaluated many players with lower tier offers. After UK offers a scholly, other schools scout said player, and then you have multiple high profile teams coming after the kid. I've seen it happen too many times this early in the recruiting process to read another stupid post like this.

Umm, he's a junior in high school. We saw many instances in this class where guys wouldn't get high major offers until December, January or February of their senior year.

You think this is also a step to try to get his teammate Deweaver? If so, what about the other thread stating that we might get Kendall? I'm confused so please help.

What!? You've made a living trashing recruits on this very board. He's just following the example you set.

He isn't even a senior yet. His lack of offers, at this point, means less than nothing

Not to mention that he is an Ohio recruit, which speaks for itself if you've ever read anything about FB recruiting.

Double congratulations are in order.

Congratulations to our coaches for getting a commit from another great prospect, and congratulations to Mr Gilliam for being accepted by a rising member of the SEC AND a great University of higher learning.

Gilliam played high school ball with Dorian Hendrix, who is a good buddy. Marrow knows how to build pipelines.

**** Try again *****

Re: 2016 CB Tobias Gilliam

Keyser, I challenge you to find any post anywhere that I have made in the last 20 years where I have said anything negative about a player or recruit.

Re: 2016 CB Tobias Gilliam

Still waiting, Keyser. Either edit/delete your post or prove that I have ever said something negative about a player/recruit. I don't appreciate false statements being made about me.

Fair enough. I was just curious.

Exactly...I think this will be one of the kids we hope doesn't flip to a power school after they see UK has decided he can play in the SEC.

yeah, while the offers currently don't seem to be "great" offers, Stoops and this staff has proven they have the ability to evaluate early on and see talent that a lot of others haven't yet.

Three come to mind immediately in Jeremiah Denson (Auburn), Derek Kelley (Florida), and Jason Strowbridge (Ohio State). All of these guys were committed to Kentucky until late in the process and when we offered them, they didn't have near as many "big offers."

King (our 2015 running back) is another one as Auburn and Florida offered him the Tuesday before signing day just after he committed to Kentucky.

For me, I don't look at who offered our commitments NEAR like I used to due to Stoops proving how well he can evaluate talent.
