I've seen a lot of talk on twitter and on here about getting back to who we were. Who we were isn't close to good enough in our new reality. No free UL win this year or beyond. No more free Vandy wins every year starting next year. No more 3 cupcakes the year after next. A 9 game SEC schedule is coming, Oklahoma or Texas every year is coming. Starting in 2025 we'll get 2 freebies a year. We'll have to win 4 against 9 SEC teams and UL going forward just to get to 6. No one should be happy getting to 6 in our good years. The landscape has drastically changed while we stayed the same or regressed.
What we needed these last 5/6 years was growth, we had a real chance for the first time in my life to change our standing in the SEC and we blew it. The conference will likely never be as weak as it's been the last 5 years. The top teams have been great but the middle and bottom have never been softer. We needed someone with vision and an aggressive plan to change our future but we had Mark Stoops.
