To all those crying about the refs

You are correct. They were horrible and if anyone thinks otherwise I am not sure which game you watched. There is something seriously wrong when a game is over 2 1/2 hours long. The refs called two different games, depending on who had the ball. Very inconsistent. And don’t get me started on going over to the monitor every other play. Basketball is about momentum and getting into a flow. The refs made that impossible! We will be fine.

Missed calls happen...having zero clue, feel for the game, and letting it get out of control shouldn't.

I'm still astounded these guys can't put basic logic together...80% of the time if a player falls on a 3, it's a flop..yet there they are blowing the whistle. I don't need replay, numerous camera angles, or a rule book to see obvious things.

The inconsistency is the worst thing tho...throw someone to the floor. Ah who knows. Jump straight up and get a rebound...well I guess we'll blow the whistle. That Jaxson robinson foul denies all basic human thinking...a kid that weighs 160 lbs supposed shot a guy out of a cannon when jumping straight up for a board.

I used to think they all hated calipari...and they probably do. But pope is the most stereotypical Mormon guy ever, overly NIIIIIICCCCE, and it does no good.

I dont think there's some anti uk bias, I think you have opponents that are always jacked up, and unaccountable, over worked officials who don't care. These guys work so many games you think they care what happened by a day later and no one will do anything, bc all the coordinators care about is if they have balls to call T's and keep composure no matter how bad they are bc their mechanics are good in some clinic or something.

Just a couple of observations;

1.The board is more fired up about the officiating last night than I have seen in some time
2. The board is more unified on this issue than we have been on anything in a great while

This speaks volumes on just how bad the game was called. I have a feeling we aren't the
only ones who can see how much of a travesty played out last night.

I agree . I wonder if AI has a solution here . My guess is a highly trained robot would be vastly superior to the SEC refs.

The problem is its bad across the board. Not that I overly mind, but, even EweTee got a bad whistle. SEC Officiating needs to be fixed!
Agree.

These guys get paid between 1500-3000 a game (I believe), to be decent/good at there job and it's almost like they are bad on purpose sometimes.

Something has to change with ref evaluations and probably does need to be public knowledge as well.

They seem to be getting worse as a collective group as the years go by.

I did notice Georgia was shooting a free throw in the first half. The ball was rolling around Amari Williams feet. Amari didn't have the desire to pick the ball up and made the ref get the ball at his feet.

Very next time down the court the other ref made a questionable foul call against Amari. Lol

Regardless it does need fixed as you stated

Would love for someone to answer a question if they know answer.

Why will they not go look at review for a flop?

These refs look up at the UK fans and think "yeah, I'll never forget what you did to my buddy Higgins and his business". They are a fraternity that bands together, just like police and firefighter groups. He's "one of them" and a "brother" who they'll avenge for the rest of their reffing days when they get a UK game.

That's what I'm starting to think is going on (aside from the fact that many probably gamble through a proxy and since UK is a heavy betting attraction, there's more to be won in our games than most others.

What astounds me about the gambling part, if it's ever proven to be true, is that there are other teams that probably garner strong betting, but are notorious for getting a favorable whistle. KU and Puke are at the top of my list in this category.

Anyone ever wonder why we always end up with at least one of the historically bad UK refs, literally every game that's not a cupcake? During the first couple of weeks of the season, I hadn't heard of one single ref that was assigned to our games. But when the big games came, voila, there's a Lindsey, Adams, Poole, Shows, and a couple more faces I recognized as ones Cal used to be all over.

This Saturday I bet we see Pat Adams or Joe Lindsey. 100% guarantee it in fact. Big prime time TV, two ranked teams, "physical" SEC, UK just got beat so all eyes will be on this one, etc. The SEC is going to assign someone that we all have grown to despise.

Under the new rules which went into effect in the 2023-24 season, a player who is ruled to have flopped will be issued a warning on their first offense. If the player flops again, they will be assessed a technical foul and will be given technical fouls on any subsequent flopping calls. Any flops after the first warning will be added to the team's foul count, but it will not count toward a player's five fouls that would result in an ejection. Why bother passing rules if the refs won't enforce them? Number 5 for UGA flopped at least 10 times trying to get a foul called and it worked several times but what didn't happen? A technical foul called on him.

Hopefully Pope’s comments on the radio show mean we are going to start flopping on drives and holding and clawing on every possession just like Tennessee and Auburn. Defense in the SEC doesn’t take as much effort as it does disregard for the rules. I’m not even being sarcastic

The problem is if we did that we would be called for 50 fouls per game. Seriously we couldn't do what everyone else gets away with doing.

Our opponents have shot 74 FT’s to our 39 in the first two SEC games. Some of that is on us. But not all of it. The games have been called differently on either end of the court. If we hadn’t played out of our minds against Florida we’d be 0-2 in conference and dead in the water. If i’m UK, Mitch Barnhart is calling the SEC offices to see what the hell is going on.

I was reading something on twitter after the game. I didn’t do research but basically it said the SEC has hired a bunch of refs that had been banned from the NBA for being on the take. For years they have hired refs fired from other conferences. Now the SEC is the premier conference. They need to act like it.

Only one way to know is to try
Maybe so but in what game do we try that? Home or away? A game we have better than a 50/50 chance to win and piss it away or a game we have a lesser chance of winning. Saturday
s game would seem the most likely time but I can't watch another foul fest so soon.

This is the sort of evidence that we need to go to the SEC/NCAA and basically be like "Look, this seems egregious, and we'd like to review".

Some people defending the officials on here like to say that the SEC has the same officials as everyone else. Which may be true, IDK. But I find it hard to believe there isn't SOME regional aspect to ref placement. I can't imagine an official who lives in Georgia is going to have the same amount of games in the Mountain West Conference as he does in the SEC. And further, I'd like to see an explanation for why the SEC seems to have such a higher foul rate across ALL teams, than say the Big10. We've seen this year after year, where SEC games finish with 45 fouls, and Big10 games might finish with 25.

More fouls will always help the weaker, less talented team stay in it, and that's why it's a problem for Kentucky.

I’d say go all in on it versus Mississippi State. If we do it, it could force a tighter whistle which benefits our team going forward. I don’t like the foul feats but you gotta adapt to what’s happening out there.

The reason everybody is upset about that game's officiating is because there is a big difference between bad officiating and biased officiating. That intentional on Carr made it clear to all that it was intentionally bad officiating; they could call something like that every time somebody set a pick if they wanted to. Checking the cameras and calling that one let the cat out of the bag. The refs forgot they weren't supposed to make what they were doing that obvious.
