To All That Want Cal Out!

If Sharpe, Tshiebwe & TyTy return, or 2 of the 3, would you still want Cal gone?

I am certainly not giving Cal any excuses here, as I have many doubts about him remaining our coach in 2022-23 and beyond. I am also adamant that CC needs to change his coaching/recruiting approach immediately, and drastically.

However, if this scenario were to come into fruition, I believe we would all have to take a step back from the edge of the cliff, atleast temporarily. If Cal somehow pulls 2 of these 3 guys into returning next year, or miraculously all 3, I believe Cal should get the benefit of the doubt, atleast for next year. If this does indeed happen but Cal is unable to have the success that is warranted with having this kind of squad, then it is officially Cal's and Kentucky's time to move on from one another.

Thoughts? Likelihood of this happening and Cal's expectations? Looking forward to hearing from fellow Big Blue Nation fans!

We are in year 12. There aren’t many more surprises to this movie. Yet every year some expect a different outcome.
I totally agree. I am just having trouble comprehending what the negatives, if any, would have on the university if Cal's tenure at UK ends roughly. Here at Kentucky, coaches should leave riding into the sunset. I can't help but think that this relationship will end ugly. Also, however much I would like to see Cal leave here in good terms, it is looking more and more bleep by the day. I for one, would certainly love for Cal to patch this whole up and turn this around. Just think of the bad press and future coach's hesitancy to come coach at Kentucky if this spirals into a complete disaster. Am I being paranoid?

When he first arrived he set his standard, since 2015 he has hitched his horse to a different wagon. I don't know if your paranoid or optimistic of the outcome. I am fine taking a chance on a new coach that has the same dream Cal had prior to 2016.

I also hope Cal can end on good terms, I’d hate to see a bad split between Cal and BBN. However, it’s not like Cal is well like by the media, so I wouldn’t see a complete firestorm by others if it ends ugly. Money also talks, and UK helps propel coaches up another level. I don’t think it would scare everyone away from taking the job.

Just a quick response to the 4556534689986435670457755th thread on this dead horse boated stinking topic. Cal will be the next coach. When Cal decides to leave, Barnhart will lead the effort to find the replacement. Beating dead horses till they explode will not change this. Don’t like it? $52,000,000.00. Deal.

Nothing against Barnhart but I don’t have any faith in him making the next hire
Hopefully there is a group of former players (not including the one and done types) that are involved in the process.
It's in her sig.

Geez, you guys.
If you view the board on mobile view you don't see signatures. At least in portrait mode you don't. You can in landscape mode.

better be working on oscar and sharpe...
He should say that he will be hiring an agent to go to the D/G league. This kid is way too soft for the NBA. He had some of the worst body language towards end of the season. Every time he got bumped, he looked like he was about to cry.

Banking on Cal to change, or trying to justify "one more chance" on him doing so is foolish. He is not going to change. I truly wish he would but too many things tell us that he won't. UK or Cal need to bite the bullet now and move on. It won't be an easy transition and we will take our lumps but we are taking them anyway. Do it now and give whoever comes in a fair chance to assemble a team. we could be like LSU and have no players on the roster.

If your goal is an embarrassingly moronic nickname to prove how infantile the UK fanbase can get, I suggest FAKE'M.

"Fat Ass Kneeling Ego Maniac.

Begok has no cleverness whatsoever. Just a really sad and weak effort.
I’m starting a company that writes internet acronyms for message boards, memes, etc. We work with lifestyle influencers, Twitch streamers, political operatives, etc. on building their brand, market penetration, SEO, etc. You know, real technical shit.

This is one of the fastest growing niche markets for critical thinking shortcuts on the internet today. Emojis are out and acronyms are coming back in a big way.

The company will be called ACRONYM which stands for the Association for the Creation of Reality Obfuscating pNeumonics for Young Minds.

Anyone that wants to send their CV, DM me ASAP. TIA!

TyTy gone, Sharpe being projected top 10 pick which historically has meant he is gone, Oscar up in the air, Keon out fishing looking to move along, Dontae being recruited by Kenny Payne as he has made decision to move on..and by the way why did Kenny leave? Recruiting center from mid major Morehead State, It doesn't look good for the home team. Cals salvation is if Lakers hire him, then he could leave with his head up...still cant imagine him leaving a 9.5 Million dollar contract why would you walk off the job? If you cant get the picture maybe you can read the writing on the wall. Cal has done many wonderful works while coach of this team , helping out in the Commonwealth and providing a lot of great teams for us to watch...until the one and done was adopted by other teams, sine then his coaching ability has been put on full view for all to see and has came up short. I truly wish him all the best, but his methods are not helping him anymore.

I definitely see the writing on the wall. However, it is only sensible to look ahead if/when Cal ditches us for the NBA or Cal's contract is bought out.

Headline, "Cal Leaves Kentucky For Greener Pasteurs," or "Big Blue Nation Runs Off Hall-Of-Fame Coach." This will be a PR disaster and damage control will have to happen on a mammoth scale.

I guess I just don't see how this debacle is helpful in our pursuit for our next coach. BBN already gets a bad wrap enough, from everyone that isn't a Kentucky fan.

How did we end up in a situation like this? Why would you give a lifetime contract to a coach, especially in college? Who in their right mind would do such an unthoughtful thing at one of the most decorated programs, and also where most pundits consider as the "best coaching" job in all of sports? Is there someone else at fault too rather than just Cal for this ugly situation we are in, a situation that could definitely have such an enormous impact on UK for the next 5-10 years?

Totally agree. It is not like we only give him a couple of years then kicked him out. Any coach that would be scared off didn't need to be here anyway.

Most coaches (successful ones anyway) are Type A and look forward to challenges. I don’t see them viewing us negatively for the PR appearance of “running off a HOF coach”. Other coaches watch our games and Cal’s coaching too, you know. You don’t think they’re watching and not thinking “holy crap, I could easily coach that talent to the F4”? I think they’d be chomping at the bit (ie Musselman type)

When people figure out John Calipari is holding UK back, not the other way around, then we’ll get somewhere. Other coaches probably think he’s an idiot. All you have to do is adapt a few things, but he won’t. They wouldn’t be scared of this job they’d be ecstatic that our bar has been lowered to where it is.

People still aren’t getting just how bad Calipari is these days. He is NOT A GOOD COACH. Wake up.

I have long said that UK has to be the easiest team in the country to prepare for if you’re an opposing coaching staff. No set plays, the most rudimentary offense in basketball, and only plays one D. There’s nothing new……EVER.

It’s awful.

Threads like this really show how people don't get it.

It's not about the players who are here. We've had the talent and players on most teams every year to compete. Whether he gets them to come back or lands another #1 recruiting class really has no bearing on me wanting a change.

It's the lack of coaching and not putting the program above all else. Not sure how many times that has to be said.

Cal needs elite NBA talent, and he's not getting it anymore.

He told us in his first presser that Kentucky hired him because "I can get the best of the best."

He hasn't gotten the "best of the best" since the Fox class. What we've been witnessing is what Cal becomes when he gets the "second or third best of the best." He starts looking rather pedestrian.

For the record, if Cal managed to convince Sharpe and Oscar to return, it would show me he's trying to change. I'd give him another shot. But as James Longstreet said on the third day of Gettysburg, "I don't think my boys will reach that stone wall."

It's a great question, but any time reality intervenes, the optimism of potential answers comes smashing down on it.

While I do believe he's done here and can't turn this around I also know that he is not going anywhere so I must support the team albeit from a distance!

Guys...gals...

If first-world kids from Phoenix are leaving to feed themselves and family...the f**k do you think a kid from the Congo is going to do...

I mean if there's one kid Cal and everyone needs to look at him and say "hey man, appreciate the time and effort...but go get some bread for the block..."
