Tim Tebow at it again ...

It always bothered me why he wouldn't switch positions and try to have a career in the National Football League.

He probably doesn't think too much about it, but he lost a lot of my respect when he stuck with quarterback. No one likes a sore loser.

He lost your respect because he wanted to play a particular position and was willing to lose his career over the choice? What business do you have judging what he wants to do with his career, let alone looking down on him because he had the audacity to make a choice for himself you didn't agree with. Ridiculous.

This is certainly not a knock on Tim Tebow, but I there are tons of College and Pro Players and coaches who do these sort of things. They just don't wind up making the news. Many of our own Wildcats have done and currently do these sorts of things. And God Bless them for their efforts. Especially for those who are helping life the spirits of kids who are in a difficult situation.

Tim Tebow isn't the only football player that does this stuff... it happens all the time. Here's another Gator, by coincidence, doing something similar.

North Carolina quarterback Cam Newton paid a surprise visit to the block party set up by several dozen neighbors of 10-year-old Elijah Aschbrenner, who has a rare form of cancer called epithelioid sarcoma.

The boy learned last week the disease had spread and that he might not make it to Halloween, so his community immediately rallied to throw him a party in honor of his favorite holiday. A professional makeup artist painted Elijah's face and helped get him into costume.

Seriously, this is one of the strangest things I've ever read. He wants to play QB. He doesn't have any children or a family to support. He has other career options available, in which he's been working, and also still pursuing his dream of being an NFL QB. Why in the world does it matter to YOU if he makes a roster or not? Seriously, why??? Sore loser??? Loser at what? What was he sore about? Who or what team is he hurting? What in the hell are you talking about?

Did you lose respect for David Carr for not trying to switch positions when it was clear he wasn't good enough? What? Huh? WTF?????

I dislike Florida and don't care about his press or faith aspects, but from all accounts he's a normal, good guy. He even thanks the teams that cut him for the opportunity.

Why would you lose respect for someone for doing what they want to do with their life, and not what you want them to do?? I can't even....

How exactly is he a "sore loser" by not switching positions?

I still think Tebow is out of football due to intense media attention he brings. No way he isnt better than some of the backups in the league right now. But teams know their backup wont cause tons of reporters to start asking questions day in and day out.

Early signs point to Braxton Miller being the big winner out of the Tebow NFL saga. He (under the guidance of Urban Meyer) was willing to switch positions early enough to prove his wares to scouts, and now has now has a real shot at a pro career.

I don't know about a "sore loser", but Tebow did hurt his NFL career by refusing to change it up. Several coaches have spoke on this.

Yes, but it was not important to him to just play in the NFL. It was important to him to play QB. I'm certain he's 100% happy with his decisions.

Well I guess there ya have it. Personally I would have given It everything I had to play the position I wanted, but in the face of not making rosters because I'm not good enough, I'll take the change. Lots of players change positions from high school through their NFL career. Why Tebow believes he doesn't have to is beyond me.

But like I said, is what it is.

I'd also add David Carr wasn't sought for being an everyday player at the TE position. Tebow had a path to play 10 years in the league. Just different situations. Most players do what they have to do to make it. Tebow was more worried about a position. I don't agree but,

Tis-wut-Tis

Some coaches don't want to deal with the media circus that comes with Tim.

Perhaps, but clearly you don't lose respect for him for choosing his own career path.

Absolutely agree. I think thats THE reason hes out of the league. I think hes better than a good portion of the backup QB's in the league right now.

Keyword: personally. I know most of us would give anything to play pro sports, but we can't nor ever will. Tebow can, but only wants to do so on his terms, and that's his business as to why. Many other players have changed position but that's not what he wants to do. Maybe he doesn't have a desire to "just be in the NFL." Maybe he's got other interests as opportunities. It's just weird to project your own thought onto him and "lose respect" over it. He doesn't have to play in the NFL whatsoever, much less be obligated to do anything and everything to get there.

EDIT: I'll just add this, so I have a friend who's like 6'6'' and at least once a month someone is like "OMG DO U PLAY BASKETBALL?? NO? OMG U SHOULD." He should? Why? Because he's tall? He doesn't even like basketball, he's an electrical engineer. He might even be good at it, but he doesn't want to. Just because Tebow *might* be able to switch to tight end doesn't mean he should, needs to, or owes it to anyone.

Weirdest thread ever.

Just how would this be construed as him being a sore loser?

And to think, there was an abortion doctor that wanted to abort Tim Tebow. These Godless liberals make me want to puke.

This is why I hate religion. A good story is besmirched by somebody that wants to talk about abortion. Religious zealots think their mouth moving is the most important event. I can't stand religious people in this country. They either can't do the job they take money to do because of their religious convictions or they are passing judgement on people they don't know. Either way they never question themselves while they condemn others. I can't stand religious bigots.

BTW we have Kentucky players that doing this sort of stuff all the time but I guess they are not as "Christian" as Teebow.
