Throw NIL money at the best portal center available next season.

Not saying he couldn't be. He's just is not really good at anything at this point and makes terrible decisions. He needs another year or 2. I hope you're right.
2 weeks ago we all wanted him to play more minutes then Williams. He hustles rebounds, has a good looking shot good free throw shooter and protects the rim. He defense needs some work but I think the guy will be fine.

I don’t think we’re cooked. But I disagree with Pope calling Garrison a “future star.” He’s a terrible defender and I cringe anytime he touches the ball unless it’s going up for a dunk.
Yes Garrison is good but he needs to realize he isn't Amari. He tries to do way to much perimeter type stuff instead of getting his butt down low and making simple plays. He is always trying to make a spectacular pass. It is annoying to watch and it hurts him as a player. Pope has to reign that in. I think he is blowing smoke up his ass so that he comes back.

It brings me to another point which is this. The people who just so confidently say that this will be Popes least talented team I really don't know how they can say confidently say that. I think we made out very well this season through the transfer portal and while it should happen again I tend to think they greatest talent on this team is how well it all blends together. We have a little of every type player.

That's a good observation.

We can be pretty confident this year will be Pope's lowest rated recruiting class overall, but it's impossible to know who is going to pan out and who is going to be a bust in any given year.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting a Top 10 team this season.

We need a stud PF, not a center.
I'd take a player that makes UK better at any position, but you're right. If we're talking about biggest need, UK needs one of, if not the, best PF options from the portal AND another PF to boot. Ideally, I would like to have a developmental PF from the high school ranks, but the thing is if he's the only other PF we have then he's going to have to play next season. I like Najai Hines from NJ because I think he has both big-time upside and the size, strength and athleticism to play a 2nd string role at both PF & Center next season. However, I haven't seen anything indicating UK has approached him - although he's blowing up and other top programs are getting involved.

when Garrison gets the ball I want to just close my eyes
thats a good idea. GREAT IDEA. for you
close them. yeah that sounds about right. Keep them closed. Close off, tune out. GOOD.

is there anything you can say that's remotely good and or positive ?

I was rather thinking Garrison and Williams would've had better games against Texas last night. They didn't we didn't. Our guys collectively just didn't get it done. In Austin, Texas. OK great. On the road. Couldn't close it out. I am FINE with it being shorthanded. It has been so difficult. I felt it when Carr fouled out, it was like that moment in the game that it was just too much to all overcome. And it ultimately was.

If any more of the guys go down with a season/career threatening injury ... and the dissonance of the situation Coach Pope has / is still dealing with, I don't know what else you can do. So be positively constructive here.
and maybe not such an ass in every.single.post.

it's amazing we haven't beaten all of the teams everyone is "devaluing" and lost to dUKe, lose to the zags, lose to UT twice, lose to florida, beat bama (????? that would be our big number one win ???? huh??) we win in miserable gym at vandy ? (yayygolf clap) and lose to egads - Louisville? If you simply flip the season results like that, the natives with pitchforks and torches like these guys would be out in full force.

This, basically is what we would have gotten (if we would've been lucky) if CCC was still here. At best? You tell me how he is doing ?

There is your narrative of "what ifs"

so if you ask me, and nobody here does, I'll just finish by saying : I'm thrilled we have won so many really exciting and fun games to watch with the styles of both teams we have played this season. The teams we are playing epitomize (for the most part) why they play harder against Kentucky as opposed to some other teams. They just DO. (and there's usually that one guy .... name the names throughout the years ... oh my ) But we have stood toe to toe with everyone. I can't ask more than that. And yes, we've been down and beaten. Literally beaten.

and don't get me started about NCAA officiating and the SEC.
especially this year

I just want to see them get back to healthy and be the best version of the team that IS, get back Williams, Carr, Jax, Butler and Oweh. Give me those 5 guys right there starting as healthy as they can get , please ? Everything else is the rollercoaster cats they are. I love them and will stick with them all the way though, against anybody.

Does anyone know if UK has shown any interest in Hines? Not sure he is what Pope wants from his C but his videos have been impressive. Further if he only needs to play 20 min a game, I don’t know why UK would not be interested. JMO

Any great or good portal center, point guard, or power forward in the portal will have a good two dozen teams with deep NIL pockets bidding out their butt for the same players we want. There will be an absolute free for all bidding. Our chances of getting everyone we want is zero. Yes we will get some but maybe not our first choices. If you think recruiting 5 star kids is rough, just wait till portal opens for next year kids. Maybe going forward after next year some rules and regulations may be in place, like a NIL cap. Every team will have the same dollar limit for NIL, then you will be forced to budge for portal kids. If we need three kids and 10 other teams only need one or two, they can thrown more money toward one or two kids than we could trying to get 3 out of the portal. The playing field in recruiting is going to be leveled. When this happens teams will revert back to paying kids/parents under the table like it has always been. I dare say the payment for kids today is very little different than it was 5 years ago. It is now in the open.

Garrison will be good imo especially if he puts in off season work. He will never be the elite passer that amari is, but he will be a very respectable shooter which will open up the offense so much more.

I remember way back when Nick Richards made a significant leap between his sophomore and junior seasons. Hell, Garrison has gotten significantly better since November. Pretty sure he's going to be a big deal a year from now.

And who knows how Moreno does. Based on Sheppard, Noah, and Perry, he might actually be underrated.

Garrison will be a STUD!!!!
I obviously hope you’re right. He’s got physical gifts you can’t teach and a nice shooting touch for a big man. But he has a low basketball IQ, as evidenced oftentimes on defense. There was one play in the Texas game that stood out, I believe it was on a fast break. A Texas guard beat the initial defender and Garrison was the last line of defense. He took the worst possible angle and the ballhandler went right around him. It was comically bad.

Or we're cooked.
Hind site is 20/20.... I'm not sure about expectations of certain players.
You take oweh for instants , "nobody". I mean nobody expected him to compete like he has this year.

Take Brea, we expected great things from him. While he has been a solid piece to this team, and am grateful for everything he has given to BBN,
Let's say he picked UConn for whatever reason. And we ended up with the Saunders kid from BYU. It would've been viewed as a big miss. But now I'm not so sure.. He is balling! Some guys make a big jump others not so much. Kstate/ IN bought some of the best portal pieces. Didn't reflect it up to this point!

Significantly better? I couldn't disagree more.
