Sure missed a hell of a game.

I don't know why anybody would pay good money to come watch a football game and then leave way before the outcome is decided. The air went out of the building and I think that contributed greatly to ULL's come back.

At the end of the day, playing a season opener in a new stadium to a 2/3 to 1/2 full stadium is the kind of thing that will make Stoops decide to go to a school that cares about football.

true. I was shocked to see how many people bailed at halftime. Pathetic.
Guess what..next game you won't have to bitch about people leaving because they won't show up for this crap again..season after season, same lame excuses, same lame promises...this coach talks 'em up just like the last 5 or 6 have...what do you expect them to say? "We're gonna suck." "Don't waste your money."
Get a grip. Kentucky football is and always will be a drunken diversion until basketball season starts. So don't get your panties in a wad over people leaving...get used to it....

From what I could see it was all students. The student section emptied out in the 3rd quarter. The rest of the stadium still looked full. It was still packed where I was.

Maybe that's what it is to you, but I for one haven't given up on this program being competitive in the SEC. People like you are the problem, and telling us we're wrong for being upset when fair weather fans ruin our home field advantage is a true dick move.

Wrong, Mr. Sunshine...if you think our "home field advantage" has ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING about this program, I'm afraid you're in for a huge disappointment the further the season progresses...I got your dick move right here...come get it

Well I guess leaving is an option, you want to sell your tickets before you go or do you have tickets?

No gripe with you, Poetax. I've read your other posts in other threads and you seem to get it. These blindly loyal fans who are satisfied to see this same BS year after year hoping we're gonna win the national freakin' championship because the newest shiniest model of coach and stadium are here are delusional. Just put the pre and post game shows on an endless loop from the Charlie Bradshaw era up until tonight's fiasco and you've got Kentucky football in a nutshell...a great party before the game - bitter disappointment and embarrassment afterward....again.....

You and I both know that this staff's recruiting and the recent money being thrown at the football program is a big difference then what we have seen before. But there is still not the kind of SEC depth we need to destroy teams like this one tonight. I wasn't happy about tonight's game in many areas but to be still so negative like Joker is back won't change a thing. We won, now are the coaches good enough to improve the areas that we lack in, that is the question so hang in there.

DAM, I'm guessing you tailgated HARD all day and at your age, I'm sure it takes a toll. Unlike you, I do believe that Stoops is different than anything we've seen here in a long time. If you want to give up after WINNING a game to a team that has won 9 games 4 years in a row then go ahead. The old Kentucky loses that game tonight after the tie.

Was pathetic and wasn't just the student section, tons of blue chairs empty from the third quarter on. We are a subpar SEC fan base period.

Our best players are sophomores and freshmen still, we have a few talented upperclassmen (Towles, Stamps, Forrest) and a serviceable, veteran offensive line. Chris Westry is a stud CB who supplanted a returning senior starter, which goes to show the talent gap between the underclassmen and upperclassmen. Joker left the program with very little to work with, this is going to take more than just a few years and Stoops really has to be in this for the long haul for it to work.

Barker is lucky, he gets to come in with upperclassmen playmakers and hopefully a better defense. People seem to think Barker is better than Towles right now, but he really isnt. We're damn lucky to have Towles to see us through the foundation phase. It's not what you all want hear, but this is a 5 year process to get to where we need to be.

Id rather fans leave at halftime if they don't know when it's appropriate to get loud and when not to. This fan base STILL yells when we are on offense , and sits on their hands while we are on defense, except when we are facing third of fourth down.

UK football fans' collective football IQ isn't that high to be honest

Well first of all, that doesn't make sense as an explanation for why people left, because the first half was pretty good.

Second of all, I understand being disappointed, but what is the end goal with your aggressively negative attitude? When you go around the thread looking to take people down a peg for looking for silver lining - what would placate you? Are you going for converts? Would you suddenly stop going after people if they'd all join you in your little circle of misery?

Curci s teams were pretty good and they played defense so your Charlie Bradshaw era doesn't hold water. I think you left at halftime of a lot of games and was beaten as a child. Now the big question,, did you vote for Obama? Haha

Same ULL team beat a team who beat us in 2013 by the name of Western Kentucky... Year to year has been an improvement, yet some folks are getting ready to jump off of a damn bridge. Please let this year play out before you all of a sudden say we stink.. Can you not see the improvement since the Joker debacle.

When the team was tying to generate crowd noise on the final fourth down try by ULL, I thought about how it must have looked to them and to the recruits in the recruiting room. Yay! We have a recruiting room! Where all the recruits can clearly see the fans depart the stadium early!!

The student issue is an issue all across the country. I remember being at some of the worst games at CWS as a student and for the most part we had great turnouts and students stuck around the whole game. I think they felt the game was over and wanted to get back to their frat houses, etc. to party and watch the rest of the game on the HD TV.

Except for the small fact that they left when we were up pretty big. Which negates everything you just said. If they left when we were getting beat it would have made sense. At half we were still looking pretty good.

If you actually knew anything about this recruiting room, you would know its only used pregame. Recruits can't be there during the game. I don't think we had many recruits visiting for this game anyways...

I admit, we left at halftime, and I'm embarrassed about it. As fans some of can do better, just as the team can do better, and we will.

Not making an excuse, an explanation, a long day in 90 degree heat and what seemed to be a big/growing lead contributed to our decision to leave early. Our team got tired into the 2nd half and so did most of the fans.

I actually know that we had a good number of our commits there. And, they watched the game.

Thank you so much for taking ownership. I'm not throwing stones cause I didn't get to go (had to coach my sons youth team). If we expect the team to perform better then we must give them the energy and support in the stands. The life was sucked out of the stadium when it started to empty out. The players then put it in cruise control and we aren't talented enough for that quite yet.

We had a couple students in our tailgating group and after the game they were as mad as we are. An absolute pathetic showing by students and I think they should have their tickets reduced even more.

There has got to be a way for the admin to solve this with regards to students. Come up with some way to know what students are leaving early, maybe develop a point system that rewards students at the end of the year that stayed the whole game. Dunno how you'd do it but do something. Maybe even allow people to sell their tickets to someone else for the 2nd half or something. Let students buy halves of games. Just spitballing here.

I think they already have some reward system because I remember when they announced it over PA during the game and I turned to my wife saying "kids these days" ( smh needing rewards to go to a game).

This is classic deflection and denial. Our team had a poor first game. Many of us had really high hopes and larger than normal expectations. The team produced many concerns from qb to d-line to "tiredness" and yet the biggest problem that needs multiple threads and venom....is some fans left at the halftime of (what seemed to be) a blowout. Then some more left as the team collapsed to an inferior opponent (tagged as great by another poster).

I was surprised by that. I am not surprised by one of the poster's in this thread though. They are part of the problem. It's always funny how they jump at any opportunity to be critical. Man go celebrate Cal's 3-3 record in the Final 4.

1. That Dam guy is not a real UK football fan.
2. You are a football only fan. I have seen you post on the b-ball board, but you taking random shots at UK's bball coach clearly shows you are one of those pathetic posters. I guess we won't see you on the b-ball board again will we? Just like we do not need people like Dam on this forum, do not need people like you over there.
3. If my above offends, explain to me how you taking shots at one UK sport is different than him being critical of one? Newsflash, it is not. I got news for you, some of us root for UK in every sport and do not want to see that nonsense regardless. I

I did notice how empty the stadium looked toward the end of the game, that's to be expected somewhat, but I'll never understand fans leaving. If your team is blowing the opponent out, stay and savor the victory. If your team is losing, stay and support them. Alabama had the same problem a year or two ago with the student section, yet students wonder why athletic departments are choosing to lower the number of tickets for students. I understand people want to try to beat the traffic and all that, but I'd rather wait the traffic out than to get ahead of it.

It actually kind of cracks me up.. That's the best he can do to take a shot at Cal. 3/3 in the final four? It's such a weak insult because Everyone in the country except maybe Duke would kill to do that in the past 6 years. In fact, no coach has ever had a better first 6 years at a school in CBB history.

Some people just can't be happy as fans, whether it's deriding the second best basketball coach in the game or sounding the alarm on our football coach one game into the season after he's spent the last 2 years valiantly mopping up the **** stained mess that was our program with top 20 recruiting classes and inspiring the steps to finally take our facilities from D2 to P5 level.

I know some UK fans who have legitimate issues with Cal. They are definitely a minority, but I don't doubt that they are true UK basketball fans. I also know some who have legitimate issues with Stoops coaching. I disagree with them and think that he has done a good job, but I don't take that to mean they are bad fans per se.

One of the problems I had with fans on here (and in life) saying that UK was going to win 8-10 games was that it was setting unreasonable expectations for year 3 and was going to lead to disappointment. I'm not disappointed with the game last night because it was a win against a decent mid-major opponent; it would have been a loss two years ago. It might have even been a loss last year. The biggest positive I took from the game last night was that this team has learned how to finish games.

What an awful fan lot Big Blue is! ! !

First, we have these Blue Hairs at basketball games, and then we have the group who leave early at football games.

Just so difficult to please all the 'perfect' fans. Don't see how we continue to exist.

We have one of the top fanbases in all of college sports. The BBN has proven itself countless times. Yet once again, it's the fans fault when UK Football underachieves. I love my CATS and I'm not going to throw any negative shade their way. I will only say that the frustration with last night, should have nothing to do with the fans.
