"This Team Could Be Crazy!"

All we needed in 2013 was Teague to keep us out of the NIT. Even with Noel going down, we would have made the tourney. We probably lose early in the tourney, though.

I would have liked to have seen a Teague/Goodwin backcourt that year.

I wonder if we would have even been IN the situation where Noel got injured? That was a desperation play, on his part - he was trying to help save his team's season. There were so many variables that would have changed, I think, with Teague back.

It's hard to say. It's the old "butterfly effect" theory. One different choice could change everything. Who knows? It's fun to talk about, though.

One of my favorite what if scenarios is what if Mitch hires Cal in 2007?

It would have been cool to see what he would have done with Bradley, Crawford, Meeks, Jasper, and Patterson running the DDMO. That team would have been interesting, but we probably dodged a bullet since Rose was going to be at whatever school Cal coached at. We could have lost some wins, which would have been disastrous.

yes it is - I have to think that it would've been different.. And perhaps it would have, but in what way? I agree, it's fun to talk about

This year will be fun. Kentucky has a top ten team and we are still waiting on a decision from Murray. It's only June so we still have a long wait ahead.
People are referencing the 2012-2013 campaign. Before that season I remember calipari stating that they weren't a very good team at the moment in the preseason chatter and said the number three ranking was too high. So he wasn't exactly enthusiastic about that year. Also that team was ranked in February and were playing well before Noel went down. If Noel stayed healthy UK would have made the tournament the committee said so themselves. Also UK is much, much stronger at the guard position this year as compared to that year and has better returnees.

OMG, please stop. Every year we get these "college basketball if down" comments. Just stop, it's apparently "DOWN" every year I guess. And why does it matter won the dang tournament that year? Sometimes the best team doesn't win, just like in 2010 and 2015 but I wish people would stop saying college basketball is down EVERY SINGLE YEAR. When was CBB up? 1996? Lets stop belittling our teams' accomplishments by saying Cbb is down every year.
And IMO, that 2013 team just didn't click and, even though Nerlens is one of my all time favorite UK players, he was a man on an island, he would have had to do it himself and he just wasn't capable of doing that. We can talk about the reasons why our roster was what it was all day long but it was never going to be great, or even good for that matter. Face it, it was just a bad year for UK, cbb was the same as it has been every year since the mid 90's.

Take it easy Francis. He simply stated a fact. What's with the OMG drama queen tantrum? What are you a Kardashian?

I think you are exactly right. Ryan had good skills and would've been great off the bench - but could not emotionally handle the fishbowl as "the" man. IMO if Teague had returned, much of the negative that happened that year wouldn't have. Just an opinion

I don't think that was it. His dad was really sick. I think he couldn't focus because of that.

2012 was definitely NOT a down year. That year was loaded with talent thanks to players coming back with the uncertainty of the NBA lockout. Lots of talent that year.

2015- was loaded with talent. That was not a down year overall for college bbball.

Next year looks to be another down year.

which could have been the reason he couldn't handle it, I agree.......but whatever the reason, it remains that Ryan would have done better with less pressure.

The people who think we need Murray to be special are spoiled. You can win without ten McDonald's All-Americans. Our roster as it stands is one of the five best in the country. We also have guys back with experience and a clear leader (Ulis).

I don't think we need Murray to be special, but I do think if we get him it makes a different type of special. I'm a huge UK fan, every team is special! lol

Murray kinda makes us a team without any holes. Without we're loaded, but kinda lack on perimeter shooting and overall level of skill.

We are going to be pretty good, but Murray should push us up a notch.

Right now the fifth starting spot has a big question mark beside it.

Ulis, Briscoe, Poythress, and Labissiere are pretty much inked in as starters, but that last starting spot is up for grabs.

Our most talented player is Lee, but if he starts, then we shorten our bench inside.

So, we probably need a third guard in there. Then the question is Matthews or Mulder? So it's a 4-star Freshman or 4-star JUCO. One or both could be ready and we are set. It could go the other way and we end up struggling.

But with Murray, it should go from a question mark to a strength. He's a 5-star shooter/scorer. He looks to be the perfect fit.

Best case scenario, Murray comes in and becomes our leading shooter/scorer on the perimeter.

Worst case scenario, Murray gives us another option at that last starting spot.

Cal wants him pretty badly. Based on Cal's track record I would be shocked if he is a dud. Why would Cal bring in another player at this point if he didn't think he would help us?
