Kentucky trailed Kansas 11-3, Texas A&M 15-8, Tennessee 13-3 and Gonzaga 13-6.

I don't disagree but nothing seems to work for this team.
As sure as you start Rob, he will pick up 2 cheap fouls and sit the rest of the half.
This is what happens when you rely on players to get theirs. Other coaches run good sets to get them open for good looks.
Every other team seems to have some mean dudes with the will to get dirty in the lane. Is Calipari afraid to recruit those guys? They aren't pleasant to be around but you need them on your team. We have NO ONE who wants to play defense.
Ran it against Texas A&M last year with Toppin, worked to perfection. Up 4 at the time. To Cal, it must be a great play. But, let's look at the differences ...
1. Oscar drew the double team on the block, leaving Toppin unguarded to sky towards the back side of the rim.
2. Toppin is a far better option for an alley-oop than Thiero.
3. UK was up 4 with a few minutes left at that time. Yesterday they were down 2 with :13 or so to play in a critical game.
And so on ... just a horrific decision by a washed up coach.
Our current “luck” rating on Kenpom is 290. Which basically means you blew a bunch of close games.
The lob play would have worked well if it was executed properly. Unfortunately Cal is not a detail oriented coach that demands precise execution. If the bigs down low would have set solid picks on their defenders it would have worked....but they were sloppy and obviously had never practiced this. I'm sure it looked great on the marker board but again this team was a victim of Cal-practice.
If they start Dilly going forward and he gets a couple of cheap fouls , or his man goes off early , it’ll just be ‘why are you doing it now ‘? Pretty much a no win …just make sure he gets his minutes

I remember Monday when Kansas was playing they were down 2, and self drew a play to get a easy dunk out of the middle co the floor because he knew k-state couldn’t guard a middle ball screen, and he had his guy wide open 5 feet out for a easy basket. Cal calls a stupid lob with ugo standing in the damn paint and his man standing directly under the basket

You have probably said this 100 times and I apologize for asking again, but what all does your model take into place?
This is what happens when you’re lazy and you’ve been told you are great. You think you are smarter than the guy on the other sideline. That’s when you stop growing. You stop pushing. You lose your fire. And the end result is this. A play that was doomed from the beginning.
Cal needs to ride into the sunset with what little dignity he has left. The game has passed him by and he is too old, lazy, arrogant, and set in his ways to change.
And another thing.
What happened to Welch?
Isn’t he suppose to be an offensive guru?
Has he been relegated to a “yes man” to keep Cal happy?
If the dude is as good as everyone was saying at the beginning of the year, how come he went along with such as stupid play?
He’s either not as good as advertised, he tells Cal what he wants to hear to keep him happy, or Cal doesn’t listen to him at all. Probably the latter.

Well, what is it with Welch? When things were going great and we were scoring a lot and winning it was all because of Welch. We are still scoring a lot but losing so that’s all on Cal? Probably a combination of everything - Cal, assistant coaches, players being garbage at times, etc…
I think assistant coaches are vastly overrated in terms of their actual impact on a game.
It looks at the statistical profile of past tournament teams to predict how teams with similar statistical profiles will perform this postseason.
There are a lot of things we do well that point toward postseason success. Also glaring deficiencies, particularly in defensive metrics and rebounding.
Probably because head coaches are too arrogant to listen.
Welch and Ulis were shaking their heads in the huddle when Cal was calling the final play.

Pretty sure Welch would have had a different lineup on the court down the stretch if he were calling the shots.
Problem is Rob fouls a lot. Foul trouble 1/3 of the games, averaging less than 22min in those 8 games.
Also, whether he sits the first 4 minutes or 4 minutes in the middle of a half DOES NOT MATTER!!! Those first 4 aren’t more important.
This poor team does seem unlucky. I told my wife yesterday the ball and rim just hates this team. If they do miss a shot the ball always clanks off the rim hard and directly to a guy of theirs. We can have 4 guys ready for that rebound and it bounces away from all of them directly to to one guy they have in there. Yesterday Adou had a ball roll around the back or the rim, change directions and rolls back off the other side. That’s just stupid bad luck.

The SEC Now crew started off by saying that Cal didn’t have the right personnel on the floor that final possession. I’ve been harping on this all season! Very rarely does Cal put the right guys on the floor when we need a bucket or FTs, etc.
Put your best offensive/shooters in the game with your best rebounder and take your chances. Cal had Ugo and Edwards on the floor that final possession IIRC. 🤦♂️
Yep. And he doesn’t do his homework on other teams. Doesn’t put in one minute of extra “hard” work imo.
Cal is horrendous at situational basketball, especially late in close games. That’s why we seem to always lose them. I mean it’s incredible how terrible he is.
Cal is not going to let 23,000 people in the stands plus a tv audience let him be seen taking directions or advice from any assistant coach. Welch brought a different style play that Cal couldn't teach on his own or would have done so several seasons ago, and he's certainly not going to be seen letting Welch draw up plays or making adjustments during a game. Anyways defense is our biggest problem and it's a shame he didn't bring in a Defensive guru also this year.
I think it’s been a surprise to the staff and others how bad this team is defensively. I do believe they’re being taught …no different than other UK teams that have been top 20 in defense ….what to do , but can’t execute . I say it’s a surprise because the athleticism is there . I understood Oscar’s deficiencies last season , because his lateral quickness and reaction times were a step slow and that stood out and was exposed in the SEC
I couldn’t bring myself to watch any of those highlight shows.
Amazing how we were everyone’s darling when Z came back. It was like Cal hit a button with 10 minutes left in that Georgia game. He clearly didn’t like the way things were going.
Ran Vandy out of the gym, but Cal took care of that too. If we aren’t going to win the way Cal wants, he’d rather lose, go home and play with his dogs, and get ready for draft night.

I turned on Netflix and watched a movie after the game. Can’t enjoy college ball anymore. Just ticks me off watching teams that are better than UK. Right now you can’t turn on a game without seeing a team better than UK.
And I have no desire to hear a bunch of talking heads tell me what I already know. I know why UK is not very good. I don’t need to hear their reasons/excuses.
Only a dumb@$$ would say that it doesn't matter who starts the game at this level.
If that were true, other teams wouldn't be starting their top 5 players.
