Pope said that he wanted to have guys on the roster that will stay and grow at UK. This roster construction suggests that well. It isn't a perfect system, because of NIL and guys going to the draft early, but having a nice amount of players from freshmen to juniors can help mitigate some of the potential issues. I also like having seniors, obviously. I think this roster can do some real damage in the SEC this coming season.

Stacked. And beefy. There are a few lineups that could just roll over most squads. You can tell Coach learned some lessons from last season. I wish we had some summer games to look forward to.
Please make it be so!

Either allow an international trip every year or possibly even better a shortish (like 2-3 weeks) summer league.

We definitely have more depth with the way these guys can play multiple positions.

Point Guard

Lowe
Aberdeen
Johnson
Chandler

Shooting Guard

Oweh
Chandler
Johnson
Aberdeen
Williams

Small Forward

Oweh
Aberdeen
Williams
Chandler
Noah
Johnson

Power Forward

Dioubate
Garrison
Jelavic
Noah
Quaintance

Center

Quaintance
Garrison
Moreno
Potter
Jelavic

Nothing can really protect you from injury, but this team seems to be insulated from it as well as one could ask for.

Besides the significant upgrade in athleticism, the versatility we have is my favorite part of this year's team.

I absolutely cannot wait for next season.

Always somebody ready to wax negative and kill the vibe. Smh.
Not killing vibe. I played football for 13 years youth through. I was listed at 6-2 sometimes, 6-1 others but was actually 6 foot and 6-1 with cleats. It all depends on who is doing the measurements, in shoes/ out of shoes and so forth. Not negative.

We have like I said at the end of my post, a very athletic team. I can add that most of our players have above average reach and quite a few have better than average jumping ability.

NBA info says Lowe is 6-1. Most have him at 6-3.

How many guys are probably different than their sizes are reported. But I think this looks like an athletic team.
I mean that is the case for literally every player in the country and it's not a secret or surprise. They always are shorter than what their college lists them at.

Zach Tow was a walk on under new guidelines I doubt he'll be back, if you remember Pope said last year he was on a day to day contract

Aberdeen seems a lot closer to Lowe than Kriisa was to Butler. And Johnson seems probably a significantly better 3rd string PG option than TP was.

No offense at all to either Kriisa or Perry but I think this year we will see a big uptick in how much we are able to both pressure the ball and take it downhill over the course of 40 minutes.

Could use another quick distributor pg. Bonus if he can shoot. No Robinson / Brea dual threat. Wish we could have seen that down the stretch.

I agree. Oweh will shoot better from deep now that he won’t be so alone as an active threat. And Kam’s numbers will be nice if he can keep them with volume (moreso on both counts with Dioubate). But one more high power bomber to just bury teams while they were trying to deal with those other problems and we would have been the death star.

Man can't pronounce all of them names or know a damn thing about these guys. Thanks Noah and Chandler for returning and hope these names form a good team.

I’ve looked Lowe up on just about everything and he’s been listed at 6-2 but mostly 6-3 so I’ll go he’s 6-3.

I’m really excited to see the 3 headed monster of Lowe/Aberdeen/Oweh on the perimeter with a really good group off the bench of Johnson/Chandler/Kam/Noah. All of them are between 6-3 and 6-5 so easy switches on the 1 thru 3. Kam is 6-8 and will play the 3 mostly.

My gosh look at our inside players size
Potter 7-1
Moreno 7-0
Garrison 6-11
Jelavic 6-11
Quantice 6-9
Diabate 6-7
Kam 6-8 might play some 4 small ball lineup

That’s 35 fouls so the bigs can go all out every second on the court and not worry about foul trouble. I’m really thinking when Jayden gets to 100% we’re gonna be a load for any team just on pure talent, athleticism and depth of this roster. Like I said Jayden gets back healthy and we get surprised play from Jasper and Jelavic look out.

Unless Oweh doesn't come back I don't see us getting anyone else. Players are going to other teams for money and playing time. Don't think we have much of either. I think we good.

We are stacked with more physical players this year, rap is maybe we lose some 3 shooting. But like our team.

Starters
Lowe
Oweh
Aberdeen
Q when he's healthy, Garrison when he's not
is the last spot Cam or Jelovic?

Lowe at PG really good at Pitt last year
Aberdeen at SG solid player on title team
Oweh at W our most solid player last year
Mo at F glue guy from a top 10 team last year
Garrison at C until Jayden starts beasting

Jasper in for Lowe or Aberdeen scorer
Chandler in for whoever Jasper didn’t sub for steady force really come on strong late last year
Kam in for Oweh matchup nightmare
Jelavic in for Mo scoring shooting off bench
Jayden in for Garrison if the beast ain’t ready it’s Malachi
Noah comes in for Oweh in certain situations and matchups
Potter in for Garrison/Jayden when game is outta hand

I would agree with your statement re: playing time & money IF Oweh returns.

However, IF he doesn't, that would free up both the minutes and the money allocated for him to be used on another wing who withdraws from the draft.

PG Butler/Kriisa/Perry to Lowe/Johnson (push)- Lowe is a better scorer than Butler, but Butler was better defensively, Johnson has more potential than Kriisa and Perry, who never really showed much.

SG Oweh(JR)/Chandler(FR) to Oweh(SR)/Chandler(SO) (upgrade)- a year older and a year in the system under their belts.

SF Robinson/Brea/Noah(FR) to Aberdeen/Williams/Noah(SO) (upgrade)- the new guys are much better defenders, Aberdeen is a better ball handler than Robinson.

PF Carr/Almonor to Dioubate/Jelavic (push)- defense should be better with Dioubate, but offense will take a step back.

C Williams/Garrison(SO) to Quaintance/Garrison(JR)/Moreno/Potter (upgrade)- more bodies, Garrison has a year of experience, and if Quaintance gets back close to 100%, he’ll be much better than Williams.

So I think we upgraded at 3 of the 5 spots. Big upgrades at SG with Oweh and Chandler back and having Sweet Sixteen experience. Big upgrade in depth at Center. Small Forward is going to be better, especially defensively.

The other two positions should be just as good, but different. We don’t have the scoring punch we had with Carr at PF, but Dioubate is a much better defender. Don’t really know what we have with Jelavic, but he shouldn’t be as limited as Almonor. Lowe is going to be better getting to the rim than any of our previous PGs. Probably not as strong defensively as Butler, though. Johnson hasn’t proven anything, but will hopefully be better than Perry was down the stretch. We really didn’t see enough of Kriisa to even count him.

Looking like a modern remake of the classic hit “Platoon”.

New director and cast. Same story of a lot of big dudes who can ball.

Great story overall last time. Shit ending.

💯 %. Ultimately, I think the downhill drives will force defenses to help/collapse and we'll get more open looks from 3. I think this will offset any concerns folks have over shooting efficiency.

We'll have an upgrade at the 4 spot. Just from Mo D alone our rebounding and defense will improve immensely.

Jelavic is 21 and has been playing professional, so hopefully his transition to American rules and the physical SEC go smoothly.
I think Pope could also experiment with Garrison at the 4 when JQ is cleared and 100%.
The incoming guys have a higher ceiling and a higher floor.

As a HS freshman, my daughter got the jersey of another player who decided to switch jerseys for her senior year. So during the season preview she was listed as the other girls height. It was never corrected, so my daughter was a 5’5” SG listed her whole career as a 5’8” SF. 🤣. But she liked it!
