Think we will see more of Mulder?

I thought he played well. Cal always says you got to earn your PT, so lets see come next game. It is upsetting that Mulder was pulling down more boards than our bigs

I hope so. He was supposed to have a decent shot, which this team needs badly. Those rebounds surprised me, but they are very welcome.

It's also what he didn't do. He had the ball going up the right side, could of pressed the situation by going to the basket against two defenders like other players do often. Instead of bulling ahead, and turning it over most likely, he pulled it out and dished off to someone else to get the offense going.

I sure hope he does. He at lest gave us something on a night were many were giving nothing. His defense wasn't as bad as people say, he got 8 rebounds, and provided another shooting threat. We need the latter desperately.

If Cal continues to play Brickscoe ahead of Mulder and Hawkins he doesn't want this team to be 'the best it can be.'
Totally agree here...Briscoe is killing UK. Plays 30mpg and shoots 35% FT and 19% 3pt. This team can't win with a guy out there nobody has to guard (and coaches have found this out and slack off of him bigtime).

This is totally the wrong mindset. If Mulder is playing, it means, our more talented guys aren't play well, and we're in trouble like last night. We aren't going to win any more games playing Mulder over those guys. Mulder damn sure can contribute off the bench and help win games for sure. But playing ahead of the other isn't going to make a better team.

We'll see him on January 24, 2016...

Btw Mulder's 8 rebounds equal the number of rebound total Skal has had in the last three games.

I am not totally sure the more talented players you are referring to are more talented. I tend to agree with some other post that the number of stars by your name gets you more time than actual talent or hustle. Just putting that out there.

Sometimes I think Cal does stick with a kid primarily because of being a highly rated recruit. His forte' is getting kids to the pros asap and if he doesn't then somehow he failed them. I don't believe that is true but it could be an issue for Cal. I did like what Cal had to say last week about kids being on different time frames in terms of when they are ready to leave. Skal and Briscoe both need to play in a reserve role. Coaches have figured out rather quickly to play off Briscoe and it's clogging up everything.

I'd start Mulder or Willis in his place to see how that opens up the offense. You need another threat on the perimeter. Ulis can get in the paint about any time he wants when there's not an extra defender laying off Briscoe at the foul line. If you put Willis or Mulder out there the defense has to account for them which will open up some things for Tyler.

Matthews took a big step back last night. He looked like a walk-on last night. He also needs to work on his jumper.

Isiah Briscoe is more talented that Michael Mulder. You can't argue that. Mulder contributed more than Briscoe last night for sure. Definitely earned more time in upcoming games. Briscoe might be the best at getting to the basket and is for sure our best perimeter defender. But I can shoot free throws better than him and that's not a good sign.

One must remember, stars come from the writers on how you performed in AAU vs. High Schoolers. Briscoe is a freshman going against real men and having to give it all on defense. I am sure he didn't have to do that in AAU. Mulder is older in age without the stars but as equally talented. Problem being, the no promise thing you hear a lot fails to work out as spoken. The high star guys get way more leeway than the lessor. All the stars in the world won't make you work any harder, they just prop you up if you fail to do so imo. Something needs to change, is it the line up or the mind set or personnel ? LSU will not be our toughest road game, repairs are needed and quickly imo.

If we play the way we did last night A&M will take us to the woodshed...Would probably beat us down there if we play good.

He's always shown some hops and hustle every time he's gotten in. It's very difficult to shoot well right off the bench knowing that after 1 miss you'll be back ON the bench.

If he's gonna contribute he will have to have longer stretches, so I suspect we'll see as much of him as there are shots of the bench during games.

I hope so.

I dont know who started the myth that he;s a liability on defense, but thats not the case. He's not a stopper, but in his time on the court i dont see a bum on defense.

Our spacing sucks & Briscoe fit in the starting lineup is not ideal. Mulder needs some time at SF/ w/ ulis & Murray to see if the 3-pt stroke will open up the floor.

And he grabbed those 8 in only 14 minutes of playing time.

Not sure why Cal won't play him more. Cal's been complaining all year about how poorly this team rebounds ..and then we finally get a guy who comes in and relentlessly attacks the boards ...hey, isn't that exactly what you've been saying you're looking for, coach?

When we play bama I would start

Ulis
Murray
Mulder
Willis
Skal/Poythress

Post Muldur to take advantage of his hops. He doesn't need to be a 3pt specialist. The offense last night looked like a piece of sculpture: Coach in Despair. Calipari turned it over to Murray who was doing great until they doubled him. (Calipari turned it over to Towns in the 2nd half of the ND game, but he usually wants things more varied.) So, put Muldur on the opposite side from Murray. When Murray is doubled -- other coaches will try that -- swing it to a big at the key to drop it down to Muldur low. Muldur can't shoot FTs worse than Briscoe. Walla. If they don't double Murray, Muldur is a creditable rebounder. Muldur isn't small, either. He won't be Briscoe on defense, but he'll do ok. I know Calipari's calculus is that Defense Trumps Everything Else, but his math didn't figure on historically crappy shooters.

Actually I would go with Skal. Cal is just clueless on how to use him. And no I do know basketball. Continue to walk in the dark.

Not sure the above is a accurate statement. Don't get me wrong, Briscone is a fine player and a defender we really need, but Mulder hasn't had the opportunity to play for a consistent period of time...we may all be pleasantly surprised by both his "O" and "D" as well as his rebounding ability. I say give the young man a really good opportunity to play...and don't jerk him the first time he makes a mistake. He sounded really mature during the post game radio interview...and was all team focused - I like that!

Michael reminded me of Gerald Fitch on the boards last night. Would open up the floor and he doesn't try to do too much with the ball. Would like to see him on there with Tyler and Jamal

OK, then could you please explain exactly what it is you're seeing in Skal to make you think he should play ahead of Lee? I'd love to hear it.

Not if u understand how the mind of true HOMER works. If Cal said the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, they would believe him.

Mulder was a first team Juco All American. The kid can ball. Entering the game where LSU was getting every rebound Mulder got into a flow at 6'4" and attacked the boards. Result 8 boards in what about 15 minutes. .He needs to play a little more.

I feel for Briscoe as I know he is a better player than he has shown. Same for Skal. Skal needs to get stronger. Skal also need to keep the ball up instead of bringing it down to his shoes.

Did the game bother anyone else in the 2nd half and getting the LSU lead down to 4 and they just refused to let it get any closer. We should have smacked them in the face and shut them down. Yes can't smack them but just saying.

Having read two posts from you, one calling our guys trash, and the other saying Cal is clueless, I feel comfortable ignoring your future posts. Don't think I will miss much.
