It has been 3235 days since Kansas beat Kentucky in basketball. That was in the 2007 NCAA tourney (thanks Tubby, without you this list would go back to 1989 and be even more hilarious)

But since that fateful day, that probably indirectly led to Cal's dominant tenure at UK, let's take a look at the events that have transpired:

-The federal minimum wage increased from $5.15

- The federal debt blossomed from a measly 8 trillion dollars

-Peyton Manning actually won a Super Bowl

-Brett Favre retired

-Brett Favre retired, again

-Brett Favre retired, for good

- Ben Howland managed to go from college basketball royalty to utter irrelevance in the poophole of America

- George W Bush said goodbye to the White House, chuckled like a maniac on his way out

-Barack Obama said hello to the White House, chuckled like a maniac on his way in

- Bill Self bought at least 6 hair pieces

- No fewer than 22 whores went through Minardi Hall

- Kansas won 8 Big 12 titles

-Kansas fans argued 7 years that Big 12 titles were more important than tournament success (see what I did there?)

- Most significantly, Kentucky went unbeaten versus KU, went to 4 final fours, and won, by far, the most college basketball games.

Now before you get smarmy, Kansas fans, remember:

22>6
8>3

I'm gonna go ahead and drop the mic.

From 1974 to 84 we were 11-0 against Kansas , the ish we do to them is hateful .
We also won 17 of the first 18 against Kansas but their fans say that doesn't count because of Ted Owens. Funny how they boast of being the most historical team in college basketball but discard the losses as if they never existed.

If we go in there and win Sat. Night I can almost guarantee you a few sucides will occur and Self would be in deep deep trouble.

What's the record for Bill Self at Kansas vs. John Calipari at Kentucky?
Regardless, I think you guys get a measure of revenge Saturday. Enjoy for now.

Funny how the big 12/sec challenge puts UK in lawrence....let's see if it ever comes back around where they come to rupp. UK and KU had a 2 year deal in 05 and 06 where they came to rupp and then we went to their place, but these home-and-home series have all but ended because of the champions classic.

The game means far more to Kansas obv. The narrative (mine advanced here for years) that the 70s are largely irrelevant goes out the door if Kansas loses. They have a better team and they're at home, with a Sagarin suggested spread of -8.

Last year I expected to get beaten badly.

Do you really think we aren't coming to Rupp next year? The only way that wouldn't happen is if you didn't request it. If Kentucky wants Kansas at home next year, the SEC will obviously make it happen.

You say that you have a better team...?

If we meet in the post season this year, I like our chances against you and that's one reason that it won't kill me if we lose a close one this Saturday.

I just hope that we stay close and have a chance to win it in the last few minutes.

Do they generally pit the same two teams against eachother two years in a row? I honestly don't know and don't care enough to look it up.

Even if we continue to play like we have recently, I don't see us winning there. Mainly due to last year's results. No way they won't be playing all out and the crowd will be redonkulous. If the margin is single digits I will be shocked.

Leagues decide. They try to match up as evenly as they can (Kentucky won't ever play TCU obv).

Teams do have input. Kansas won't play Missouri and Texas won't play A&M. Kentucky will have more sway over the SEC than Ole Miss would. Kentucky might prefer to host Texas over Kansas next year, for recruiting purposes (Randle, Harrison Twins, etc all from Texas). Or maybe OU, who knows what Cal will choose.

Well personally I like it when top teams play...it makes college basketball better and my reply was not that this was Kansas' doing. I think ESPN wanted this to happen and considering they want this like the big ten/ACC where teams don't play back to back years, i doubt KU comes to rupp and because of the champions classic who knows if they ever will.

Problem with having a "better" team is who's playing better now? I would say UK and KU are about even at this particular time. Both are trying to find the right rotations. It appears Self has abandoned the idea of Diallo making any significant contribution as witnessed Saturday. Kid didn't get out of his warmups. Bragg only logged 5 minutes. Lucas & Traylor give zero offense. Same with Skal, although he did get about 2 insignificant minutes Saturday. Kansas fans are already camping out for tickets. Should be a good game.

Kansas has always offered to play Kentucky. (We have always offered UCLA, UNC, Duke, and Indiana as well since we need the games more). Teams don't care to play us primarily because there's no recruiting benefit to playing out here. Coach K can barely leave Durham, and when he does it's to head up to New York or Chicago. Kentucky has several local high profile series.... UNC and Louisville and had one with Indiana. Ohio State-ND-WVU-Maryland etc will always pick up your phone call but not ours.

And UNC doesn't play KU for obv reasons (Roy).

Yes, you had a good week and we had a poor one. The suggested spread was -11 at the beginning of the week and you cut it to -7.5. That means that for this week, you were the better team. If that is your preferred criteria, I won't dispute it.

That's a good list. Funny to, but far from complete. One could probably write a book on all that's changed since then. The internet was around, but it was nothing like it is. I don't think you mentioned we also have a winning record on their home floor. That's likely to get a game worse Saturday, but you never know. We can win if we play our best.

And hey, Peyton Manning might win another Super Bowl. At least this time he'll be taking one of the best defenses, if not the best in the NFL with him. That's how we'll win if we do though we'll be the big underdogs. Of course something like 80% bet on the Pats. It's never smart to bet against the Bronco's in Mile High. Crazy things can happen. Like a kicker missing a PAT after like 700+ straight makes. It was only a point, but that can be all it takes.

I'm actually really looking forward to the game. Allen Fieldhouse is a great arena with a great atmosphere, and I think it'll be great for our players to play in it. I wouldn't at all mind if we had a couple of road games against non-conference blue bloods every year. I also like the added benefit of not expecting a win this year, therefore making it pressure free. Either way here's to hopefully us keeping it competitive and a fun and injury free game!

I really have never quite understood the antagonism towards Kansas I've seen from the UK online community. I'm sure they fuel no small amount of it- as a fanbase, they have way more reason to despise us than vice versa, and the universal hatred of Coach Cal has only added to this. Still, of all the blue bloods, I consider them to be the most palatable with regard to their fans and the coaches they've had, and by a wide margin.

And then there's that Rupp guy... Kansas born, bred and educated. There are major programs I despise, and with a myriad of good reasons. Kansas sure isn't one of them.

Take it easy cowboy. I wasn't degrading KU in any way. However, I will say that KU goes as far as Perry Ellis will take you. Take him out of his game (he is susceptible to athletic power forwards) and Kansas is in trouble. Selden is too streaky.

I'll gladly eat a triple serving of crow if I'm wrong, but we aren't beating Kansas this year.

Kansas looked awesome tonight. No chance the Cats beat em.

</sarcasm>

We are going to beat the piss out of the chokehawks. Quote me.

Isn't it sad, you "might" win after we've owned you like the b+++ch you are for years and years, and after we pimp smacked your choke artist school around last year; lost all of our players and reloaded.

Get ready. If history is an indication we're gonna eat your children.

I'm laughing to the bank right now.

Actually, until we beat them in 2011-2012, we were on a 3 game losing streak to KU (OTS was 2-3 vs. them at UK). We lost to them in '05, '06, and '07.

That 76 - 43 Drubbing on a neutral court must have been very humiliating for you Kansas Fans along with that loss to UK in the NCAA Championship game in 2012 [winking]

I don't have a good feeling about playing in the foghouse. I hope I'm wrong. All I know is:
1) it will be LOUD
2) the kids better be ready to bring it
3) Poythress gets in foul trouble and it's over
