Duke has a lot of talent. Their coaching leaves a little to be desired. Scheyer got out coached big time last night. It will probably happen a few more times.
Truth is, scheyer can’t coach or hasn’t proven to be very good to this point imo.
Contrary to Bilas, they are not 10 deep. Honestly if Flagg were to check out early, this team would lose 10-12 games. No true point guard. That Nipple clown is the quintessential Duke flopper. Really have nothing off the bench that’s going to scare you. I just see them as more of a pretender.
They need to hit the gym and shoot hundreds of 3s if they want a prayer to beat Ky in March as 4 for 23 aint gonna get it done.

Talented yes, but not deep like i heard they were. Also they want to bully on D and foul a lot, not called as much in 1st half but when they get it back like 2nd half they kinda shy away. Bullies don't like to be bullied and we took their lunch money in the 2nd half.
Also a little soft. I didn't see much happen but they were hitting the floor rolling in pain often. Butler got elbowed in the throat and hopped back up. If it had been a dookie we would have needed a stretcher.
I agree, I think Kneuppel and Maluach will only get better.

Watched the game again today and Duke players looked tired at the end of the game. Flag walked down the floor one time.
They had a good game plan, I'll give them that. And are shockingly decent at defense.
However....
The ONE thing that aggravated me the most was the refs still had to get in the mix. Bad calls and no calls everywhere. Thank goodness Cal wasn't on the sideline as we'd have been blown out and had 30 fouls for the game.
My hopes are now that we're legit on the main stage, and Cal is gone, we'll get a more favorable whistle than years past, especially in the SEC gauntlet.
Yeah Flagg just one-on-oned us every time down the floor. I like having something like that once in a while, but ball hogs bother me and eventually result in players just standing around watching. Morale over time also goes down the tubes when you have a one-man show.
When a Duke slips on the floor no call, but when a UK player slips it's a walk. Go figure.
I think he's been very good for having zero head coach experience before he took the reigns. He's recruiting at an elite level and that can carry him until he improves his coaching. He's probably still got K on speed dial if he needs him. But he improved last year over his first, so if I were to guess he'll settle in and Duke will be in a good place going forward.
Duke and UNC are annoying af but I kind of hope Scheyer and Hubert are relatively successful. I think it would be very cool to see three blue bloods led by three former players all having success at their former schools. I will always root against Duke and UNC in almost every game, but having blue bloods coached by former players is a cool storyline for the game in general.
There center, Moloch is a beast. He was dominating the lane for most of the game.

-Jay BIAS doing another Duke game. The L is silent when he calls a Duke game.
-Telling me over and over that Flagg is 17, like I’m a doorman at a bar that gives a shit.
-But mostly my sports fandom being Caliparied/Bengalized where I fully expected a loss and didn’t realize the effort exerted by Duke was going to wear them out evening up the athletic advantage coupled with we actually have a coach who makes adjustments!
Duke no longer gets the favorable K whistle and UK didn’t get hosed because of Cal..sometimes the universe gives back!!!
What I had the privilege of seeing being at the game was that duke was gassed. A lot of hands on knees 3/4 through the second half.
This irked the shit outta me.
He’s a shot blocker, dunker and sometimes layup maker. His offensive game is limited. And if you noticed during the game, he’s a talker of trash.
Was it just me, or did it almost seem like we were facing, in essence, a Cal coached UK team in Duke? Duke was full of many young, McDonalds superstars and were coached by a man that comes to the game with a game plan and makes no adjustments?
He jumps at pump fakes and backs down easily - every time Williams put his body into Maluach he got a good look at a flat footed 7 footer.
Hunter Dickinson would struggle scoring over Mulaach (sp?) in the post the same as our guys did
The one that pizzed me off was the stoppage of play to allow dook to sub Mulaach out the 2nd time. First and foremost, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the rule says that if the injured player isn't in danger from play on the court, play is allowed until a dead ball situation, where the whistle is then blown and the injury dealt with; it's not supposed to interrupt and take away a fast break opportunity from the other team. Also, the player had previously been removed from the game for injury, been looked at by the dook training staff and then re-inserted into the game. If they're going to put a suspect player on the floor, they should be the ones to have consequences if they're rushing him back. Lastly, it turned out that the 2nd "injury" wasn't related to the earlier knee/ankle twist at all, but was instead because the dude was cramping up.

I don't know enough about Scheyer to say. His freshman are very talented. Not sure why he didn't have a PG dictating those last plays to get Flagg a shot. That seemed familiar....🤔
Nope. Dickenson would do what Williams did- go right at his body. And Muluach isnt blocking Dickenson's jump hook.
Well Duke only has 5 titles.... I'd rather watch them win their 6th and tie Uconn and UNC than UConn win their 7th title.
He got out coached second half but his overall plan was fine, they did miss a lot of open shots. It’s not like Schyer is Cal, he coaches well enough for them to win big with the talent he assembles.
The don’t have a great bench. It by the end of the year they will be very good. Peoctor, Flagg, Kunupple, and Malauch are good enough for them to win big. Obviously if they lost Flagg that would really handicap them. Imagine if in 2012 we lost AD or even MKG.
