"There is a difference between greed and hunger." Mohamed Bamba

I don't know how anyone could take this any other way than Bamba explaining that the recruiting is hunger. He mentioned what people say, laughed, then explained the difference.

I think the question before the statement makes a huge difference in what he said, and changes the tone from what the OP is inferring:

A lot of people always make comments about the rich getting richer with Kentucky or Duke’s recruiting,” Bamba said at the McDonald’s All-American game in late March.

And when people make those comments?

“I laugh. There is a significant difference between greed and hunger,” he said. “When you’re greedy, you just want things that you don’t really need. When you’re hungry for things, you kind of need it.”

Reads, to me, that he doesn't think that either team is just stockpiling talent. Both put them to actual use; it's a need for the teams. I don't get the impression that he thinks UK (or Duke for that matter) is being greedy.

AND (Don't take that lightly) He is using verbiage Cal used recently. Think back to Velvet Cake...(I try not to use Red when possible:rolleyes:)

Is this an indication that he isn't coming to Kentucky? There is no doubt that he doesn't see UK as hungry when it comes to recruiting. We might have an unusually big appetite, but we are not by any measure, hungry. I can only assume he sees UK as greedy. And that seems like a negative.

What's your take on the statement?

He said he laughed when people call us greedy and then gave an alternative perception. This is a positive statement towards UK, not negative.

The statement was neither positive or negative. he was simply stating that we have to get good players every year because we lose so many good players to the nba.
