The borders of Europe changed shape more times than could be counted in the 19th century. America went right on and prospered, blissfully uninvolved, because those generations could remember Washington as a man and not an abstraction.
Aggression happening in the world is not a reason to go to war, or to fund an endless war. This is as true now as it has always been.
