It seems it's always the same programs who have the most scumbags and thugs/criminals. Why is that? Not saying it's everyone on those teams but my goodness

Florida
Georgia
FSU
Missouri
Miami
Etc

Hell, I just read the article that Washington State leads the nation in 31 arrests over the last 5 years. Florida is number two.

Another interesting fact, there have been over 900 arrests in D1 college football the past five years. That is insane and shows the character of a lot of kids being brought in that have no business being in school and in all likeliness aren't even doing their own work. Football is more guilty of this than any other sport.

Tough to say...some schools probably just protect their players a little better than others...but 900 arrests over 5 years doesn't seem bad at all. 900/5 =180 arrests per year...over 13000 D1 football players...1%

And many of these arrests are minor - underage drinking, playing with a toy gun [winking], public intox.

Football may be the worst, but they also have the most players to deal with.

I think it was 2 or 3 years ago Penn State led the nation and nobody outside of Penn State would know it by reputation. Please no scandal jokes. I'm talking about student athlete violations.

We've discussed these lists before...really not good to use to compare schools because not all arrests are made equal...and other schools receive transfers after these guys have been arrested.

For instance, in UKs list 4 of the 18 are from having pellet guns on campus...another one was a player who never even made fall camp (not sure if he ever participated in team activities)...other had charges completely dropped. I think it was mentioned that Tennessee had 3 or 4 players cited for underage drinking and they made the list.

Other teams have had players that showed up on the list once, but were later to be found out that they had multiple arrests - just weren't made public by the school.

My opinion comes from just decades of reputation and not just this list, which I don't put a ton of stock in but Florida, FSU, Miami, Georgia, LSU etc just always seem to have tons of scumbags on it in general.

I know the need to win is huge but selling your soul for some scumbags is too much. This is basically in regards to Art Briles lying and ignoring what a POS his former player was that transfered to him and was just convicted of sexual assault.

And Jimbo Fisher who I took up for many times until over the past year where he gets a ton of scumbags and seems to be like Bowden (and a lot of coaches) where the punishment is based on how good you are.

Agree with you there...but the problem with this list is that transfer doesn't even show up anywhere on it...and for most guys like him, the arrest counts towards the team like Boise State who kicked him off and not the team that accepts them with open arms (see Devonte Fields - arrest counts for TCU, while he suits up for UL)

I'm sorry but considering that you don't know the circumstances of 99.9% of these 300 or so incidents to label all of these students as scumbags and thugs/criminals is more than a little over the top.

Yup. Dumb thread. Smells like bait.

Bait for what? That's a ridiculous take.

How is it dumb by stating the obvious that some schools have more troubled players than most? Not even citing that study with no crimes mentioned. If you're over 30, you're very familiar with most of the same schools having tons of troubled guys who either commit theft, assault, rape, drugs, etc.

If you don't like the thread and it hurts your feelings and makes you incapable of having an adult conversation then don't read it. If you're going to be blind to this then stick your head in the sand and let the rest of us talk like adults.

My adult response is that this is a dumb thread and smells like bait. It that hurts your feelings, so be it.

Tenn had 10 citations by arrest issued on the same night for underage drinking at a off campus party. Also one was the Colman Thomas deal where he was arrested and charged with theft but was later dropped when KPD realized they had the wrong guy but it still counts. I say 85% of these on that list from every school is college kids being ignorant because of alcohol. Unless someone has a problem it's not a big deal IMO.

Takes a different breed to play football..no coincidence that there are a whole lot of good football teams on that arrest list. Best players are risk takers and have confidence through the roof (and many times the best players come from rough backgrounds)

We have certainly had our share of arrest, of those arrested 1 is still with the team and he doesn't play. Most are for underage consumption, a few for driving without a license, not suspended, they just never got one. But we have had zero this year, not one football player, basketball player was caught drinking this week. So if we went back to last year, we probably have the most of anyone, but if was within the last year we would be at least tied for the least.

Wonder how many arrest were not given because they were football players. Bet the numbers would change big time.

I'm wondering if this list accounted for arrests prior to enrolling at a particular school. Like the transfers that UL has on their team.

Arrestnation uses bogus methods to produce that list. For instance they justify not having the UofL Gefrad brothers on the list because UofL kicked them off the team before the media reported on the instance of them beating up their teammate in their locker room. Same rationale for not having Chris Jones on the basketball side. Arrestnation doesn't even do the research, they rely on media reports. If the media calls the players "former" then Arrestnation doesn't include them.
