Doesn't require much explanation.
One scholarship QB right now.
Two scholarship QB's next year, as of right now (Hoak, true freshman, and Barker).
Two have already left via transfer.
Barker finally took the starting job after waiting for almost two full seasons. Lots of guys on the team this year wanted Barker. Barker wants to keep the job.
Barker undoubtedly knows that UK will have to bring in another quarterback for depth purposes but if you bring in somebody that will be expected to start over Barker or legitimately push for that starting position then I think you're in a precarious position and run the risk of some of the same problems this year. No doubt, Barker is a competitive kid who is confident and believes in himself and his ability to win the position again. But he really holds a lot of the cards right now, to put it in crude terms.
Ideally UK would be able to bring in a kid who can play right away and has some good experience, but one who comes in as a backup to Barker. Just my opinion.
