The pigs just sealed us the 8 seed if i understand this correctly

I'm cool with one SEC tourney win at this point.

If we can get to 22 wins overall, I think you take it as a blessing, and then you hit the portal like Alexander the Great taking Persia.
Don't forget there's a little NCAA tournament to play. I feel like we can get to 22 wins before that, and then can get at least 2 more there. That's 24 wins overall.

So, who do we root for tonight to help our SEC seed as much as possible? Assuming both win or lose against Missouri.

If we can win at Mizzu we can win the national championship. I don’t think either will happen.
I didn't think NC State would even get into the tournament last year.

Then I thought they would lose in the first round to Texas Tech.

Then I thought they would lose to Oakland.

Then I thought, surely there's no way they are beating Marquette.

Then, I thought, I'm betting the house on duke to beat their asses.

Good thing I don't gamble

I’m beyond tired of “put the team together in a month” being used as an excuse. Had we sucked then it’s a legit excuse. But when you start the year 10-1 with wins over Duke, Zaga and UL while looking like a top 5-10 team but then use the roster excuse when we finish with a bad record.

The truth is, even with injuries, we had NO BUSINESS losing to OSU/UGA/Vandy/Texas/Arkansas. Take those 5 losses away, or even just 3, and the outlook on this season is much different.
“I’m tired of context. If someone does something one time, it means they can literally do it every single time.” If your logic was coherent, we wouldn’t be waiting for the first undefeated season since 1976.

Same with me. I’m wrong A LOT .

Likely the 8-seed.

Assuming chalk holds.

A nightmare draw for UK. Would get Arkansas in the 8/9 game (no win for us) and Auburn if they win.

If they don't have thiero and fland idk why anyone would be afraid of that rematch. We probably won't beat any of the top 4 seeds if we win the first game.

Yeah sure cause teams can have their starting backcourt available for a fraction of the games and still be competitive.

Not doubting you but they really should come up with a better tiebreaker with the unbalanced schedules. Vandy played 2 of the 3 at home, UK 2 of 3 on the road. Ole Miss would somehow get the 7 seed because they only played the other teams once apiece?. Strength of schedule would be a better method. Our SEC schedule was a gauntlet. UT and Bama twice. Most of the evenly matched teams with us we only played once were on the road.
To me tie break for a season would start with your record against #1 in conference and go down from there. That would be the best way to me to tie break. You go down all the way to where the tie is located. So if we are all tied for 7th place then you go #1-#6 check each team against those top 6. Then you seed from that. Still not perfect because some might get more of those 6 teams only once and another team could get 3 home and home against those top 6 but not sure what else to do there.

Yeah and i guess those teams mentioned, OSU and so forth must not have beaten anyone else this year. lol You cannot discuss this kind of stuff with people that just do not want to discuss this openly.

A win at Missouri would be massive. If the guys can get that, then win at least 1 in the SECT, that most likely gets us another game with Auburn. Just the fact that we played Auburn helps our metrics and if we can at least keep it close, we can cement ourselves into that 3 seed slot.
Beat Auburn and we might be looking at a 2 seed.
If a frog had wings, etc. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

No doubt that Thiero is a big loss for Ark. He’s a load for either a SF or PF to handle athletically & physically. I don't know about you, but the impact of the loss of Fland is a more nuanced question for me. On one hand, it’s hard to argue against the fact that Ark. has been much better without Fland. But I put that on Calipari’s starting lineup construction and his commitment to starting certain players instead of the most productive lineup. In my opinion, Fland and Wagner were always a bad fit starting together; and it shouldn’t have taken an injury to Fland to force Calipari’s hand. Ark. is actually a dangerous team now (with Thiero), whereas with Fland they were not good. But the question for me is: Would Ark. be better if Wagner, rather than Fland, had been the one to go down for the season? I don’t know. Fland was too ball dominant and took too many bad shots (trying to up his draft position?) – which was Calipari’s responsibility to correct - but he is a better shooter and distributer than Wagner. Wagner, however, doesn’t take away from Davis and Thiero as much as Fland did. So, again I don’t know.

The best Vandy can finish is 9-9. What would be the reason for them winning a tiebreaker over us?
The 3 way tie is what could push Kentucky down to a 9 seed

If Ole Miss wins tonight we lock up the 8 seed at worst but it also lowers our ceiling should we beat Missouri.

If Ole Miss loses tonight the 9 seed is still in play as follows

Ole Miss loses at Florida
Miss State loses at Arkansas
Vandy wins at Georgia

7 Vandy 9-9 (2-1 vs Kentucky and Ole Miss)
8 Ole Miss 9-9 (1-1 vs Kentucky and Vandy)
9 Kentucky 9-9 (1-2 vs Ole Miss and Vandy)

But if Miss State wins vs Arkansas it will no longer matter what anyone else does since we have that win vs them to aid in tie breakers

7 Miss State (3-1 vs Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss)
8 Kentucky 9-9 (2-2 vs Miss State, Ole Miss and Vandy) then next tie breaker Kentucky 1-0 vs Florida (If Fla wins) or (2-0 vs Tenn)
9 Vandy 9-9 (2-2 vs Kentucky, Miss State and Ole Miss) then next tie breaker 0-1 vs Florida (1-1 vs Tenn)
10 Ole Miss 9-9 (1-3 vs Kentucky, Miss State and Vandy)

Every game we have lost is due to our defense. We can't out score everyone every night. If our 3's are not falling at a good % we are toast with our lack of defense. It is simple to figure out. We can dominate teams like TN because they are a poor shooting team. They win their games because whether you hate them or not, they get in your jock strap on defense. Today's refs allow the contact in all conferences, not just the SEC. Watch a non SEC game tonight and you will see it is hack & hold. When you are a half a step slow, the ref will call a foul for hacking and holding to catch up the the offensive player. We allowwd Auburn fee looks about 80% of their shots, especially their 3 point attempts. Going forward, if we are not going to improve on defense, we are NOT going to be a consistant winner against top teams.

We lost the games because we haven’t had our staring backcourt since Early January.

Discuss what openly? Expecting Kentucky to win a bunch of games with Perry, Noah and Chandler playing a good amount of mins is crazy.

I've changed my tune simply because the 8/9 game is going to be a QUAD 1 opportunity.
No matter who we play it be a quad 1 game (except LSU or South Carolina)

Oklahoma is at 50 and we can't play them no matter where we land in the 1st game. And if we end up playing them later they won some games and would be in the top 50.

If Kentucky wins out and Ole Miss loses out, Kentucky secures the 6-seed in the SEC-T. This grants them a bye, a QUAD 1 opportunity against Georgia/Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, or Mississippi State on Thursday, and a favorable matchup with Tennessee on Friday.

This is the best path for the resume.

We can play Oklahoma as they are likely the 13/14 seed. They could easily win their first game and play Kentucky on Thursday. They would likely be a QUAD 1 win though, as they would've beaten Georgia or Vandy the day before.

They just beat vandy so I believe that locks us in no worse than 8 even if we lose to Missouri but can move up with a win and some help from others.
Looks like to me, there are only 2 teams behind us with 8 wins(Vandy & Miss. St.). If they both lose Sat, we are in the top 8.

Kentucky is locked into the 8-seed with a loss against Missouri. Unless, it's a multiple team tie.

They own the tiebreaker with Mississippi State and Vanderbilt head to head.
