For anyone who thinks Murray should have passed to Willis today, look at it again. Before watching the second time I thought Willis was ahead of Murray, but he wasn't. They were basically side by side the entire play. The only reason Murray should have given it up is if the defender had established position which would have induced a charge. Instead Murray posterized him. He made the right decision.

Also, some have charged him with being selfish before today's game. Well, he scored his 18th point with 8.5 minutes to go and never shot again.

Those who feel he is selfish are dense. Does he take poor Shots at times? Yes! He is a freshman and those are getting fewer and further apart. He is learning!

And no, he shouldn't have passed it. He has position, ball handling ability and finishing ability. The only people who wanted him to pass that ball are Wllis fanboys. That is not a knock on Willis either, he is playing great in his role, that was just not it.

Keep shooting it Murray. We will live or die with Murray in the tourney.

Although Murray is key this is not a one man band.
UK has options after Murray....ie Ulis, Poythress, Willis and Briscoe.
These guys have become a TEAM.

Just because you take too many bad shots doesn't mean you are selfish. It just means you are taking too many bad shots. He is much better in that regard at this point of the season. He can win us some games in March. If Cal can get him to quit channeling his inner Archie he can prevent him from losing one.

Its become more and more evident that Ulis and Murray have a great chance of going down in Kentucky basketball lore as the best guard tandem to ever play for UK.

Just watch Murray play if you think he is selfish. Dude busts his ass, he has an outstanding motor, leaves it all on the court.

I agree. His decision making seems to be getting better as well. He plays himself to exhaustion every game. I love watching him. He's what the media and Duke fans wanted Austin Rivers to be.

I wouldn't o as far to call Murray selfish, but anyone who denies that as soon as the guy gets the ball he is looking to shoot regardless of what else is open on the court is foolish. Dude is a shoot first everyone else kind of player, but without him we wouldn't have a chance at even an SEC title this year.

Exactly. Who was thinking this? He made the play look beautiful with the little fake pass and then the dunk.

This. That head fake/pass fake which was done in a split second at high speed was brilliant. Gave the defender just that split second to consider a pass, and created a little gap for the dunk. Pretty clutch if you ask me.

I saw a comment or two saying that yesterday, and there have been a lot of comments lately saying he's selfish.

I just ignore those people, mainly because they're stupid. Anyone saying Murray is selfish doesn't have a clue what they are talking about. The kid is our best scoring threat and without him we probably would be sitting at .500 for the season.

murray takes a ton of contested shots, many of them off the dribble. the ball sticks to him more than anybody else. he's not marshall henderson, but it's absolutely a legitimate criticism and an area he should improve in

pretty irksome how manichean some of you people are about this kind of thing

If you're running the fast break and you have numbers(2 on 1, 3 on 2 etc.) you penetrate until they stop the ball. If they don't you take it right to the rim like he did. Text book fast break and sweet jam.

I believe the "texbook" would have said, pass it, as the defenders shoulders and torso were both facing him, there was plenty of room for a bounce pass to Willis and it certainly appears the defender would have had no time to turn around to deal with Willis.

That said, a strong move, such as he made, was available, and he proved it. It makes a much more impactful impression on the opposition.

Sometimes the texbook way isn't really the best alternative.

I have no problems with the play. It was a good play. He could of thrown a lob to Willis and got two points too. It was a either or.

Based on NBA play, Bledsoe certainly ranks among those guys. However, he does not belong based purely on college performance. He turned it over way too much to be considered as effective as those guys. I'd rank him somewhere between the Twins and Teague.

One thing for certain, he has come a long way since the Louisville game. I really love his game.
