When I think of recognizing members of the Kentucky basketball program, I look at players and coaches who have broken records with the team or have won national titles. There are a lot of well deserved names in the Rafters and I’m sure we’ll add more as time goes on (i.e Anthony Davis).

I will never for the life of me understand why we continue to glorify Bill Keightley as we update our new basketball court with his nickname on it (Mr. Wildcat). I’m sure he was a great man in real life, and I’m not gonna take that away from him, but the man was an equipment manager. He never played basketball for Kentucky, coached the team or even called games like Cawood Ledford.

Sure he was the equipment manager for a long time (since 1972), but I don’t think that garners any major recognition like having your name on the court or a “Jersey” in the Rafters. Maybe that’s just me, but I want to get your all’s thoughts on this. Do you feel like any of these honors are deserved?
