The First Domino To Fall: Settle Fired

If Gran found C-Rod and Snell, and Coached Cadillac at Auburn, who could be nester for the RB position?
1. Snell was here before Gran ever arrived at UK.
2. Gran did a great job coaching Benny up for sure
3. I would have to go back to CRod recruitment.....but I don't think Gran was his main recruiter as CRod is a Ga kid and Gran was a Florida territory recruiter. So, I am not Gran found CRod..
4. Gran did a very good job developing him as RB
5. Stoops needs a good coach but he also is going to look for a good recruiter as well as potential special teams expert.

I would be fine with Gran as RB coach....he's very experienced and proven there. I am not near so certain on his knowledge as special teams coach. Also, I was taken back with how bad at recruiting Gran was. He got us guys like Allen Dailey, Bryce Oliver, Nic Scalzo, TE who played with Scalzo, etc... Gran just was part of the talent problems we had on offense IMO and getting away from him is what we had to do to get better skill positions at UK. Maybe it was not his recruiting but his style of offense that good kids never wanted to come here....but I'd be skeptical to peg him in as backfill for Settle if he can't recruit nor special teams expert.

I don’t like the idea of our offense having 4 OC’s and 4 OL coaches in 4 years. If Yenser has to be replaced, I’d at least like to see what Scan can do with an improved line, better QB protection, and more time for the QB to make decisions. I still think a lot of our offensive woes were a direct result of poor line play. It literally limits what you can do.
and that Levis foot was being shot up and numbed before each half so he was very limited on being able to move around in the pocket when that coverage did break down. That doesn't excuse the number of times he held it too long instead of throwing it away and took a coverage sack.

He was who identified RB prospects. Even if he wasn't their assigned recruiter, he is still a major participant in the process.

I agree not many of his people panned out but to be fair they didn't pan out for a multitude of reasons. That said, we can certainly do better if we're looking for a powerhouse recruiter. Certainly can't do better if we're looking for the best fit especially helping the ol and RB fit together in the run game

I still prefer Cadillac over anyone mentioned so far, not sure Stoops can make it happen though. Gran may be able to at least get him to come in for an interview. All you need is a shot.

Gran coached STs at Ole Miss, Auburn and TN although it was several years ago. And the O he built around Bowden in '19 was brilliant. Still, I don't expect Stoops will go the Gran route, I expect he'll go younger for a RB coach with a proven recruiter.

Rivals doesn't list CRod's recruiter, but 24/7 shows it as Matt House.

I was all in the fire bufano train until about mid season. We have more talented depth at safety than ever. Childress is like 5th down and he would easily be our starter most years. He must be doing something right
They don’t recruit by position. I don’t think he’s awful but I don’t think he adds a ton on the recruiting trail. We’ve never replaced the dudes clink pitched in etc. it can’t just be Vince and everybody else on staff. I mean, you want a better program, hire somebody that makes Vince feel like he might lose some of his fan cred if he doesn’t keep pace with somebody else

We need to get back to having a recruiting staff that compares favorably to Clink, Marrow, and Sumrall. When we get that, make it hard for them to leave, promotions, pay raises, etc. NIL changes the game but the relationships with recruits and their HS coaches are usually a two or three year deal.
