This topic has popped up on here as a discussion point a few times lately, so wanted to examine the title winners/runners up since the Duke 2015 team (the last OAD led winner) to truly get a sense how infrequently OAD guys are getting to the title in CBB now as part of the core group of the team.

(I think its due to a combo of 1) freshman are coming in less and less ready from a frequency standpoint to compete in CBB, especially on the defensive end; and 2) with the portal era, most coaches have abandoned even trying to put together elite OAD group squads in favor of experience.)

2024-25: No Freshman in the core rotation of either Florida or Houston;
2023-24: Stephon Castle from UConn, None from Purdue
2022-23: None from UConn, None from San Diego St
2021-22: None from Kansas or UNC
2020-21: Jalen Suggs from Gonzaga, None from Baylor
2019-20: No Tournament
2018-19: None from Virginia or Texas Tech
2017-28: None from Villanova or Michigan
2016-17: None from Gonzaga or UNC
2015-16: None from Villanova or UNC
