They will be in Indy Saturday and Cincy next week. The next month in Nashville. Visually and musically spectacular. Refered to as the 5th Beatle, Jeff Lynn is a historic figure in rock music. Don't risk missing them. It is worth every penny.

Saw Lynne in Atlanta during his last American Tour. It definitely one of my Top 5 all time Concerts. You forget how many hits ELO had plus his Traveling Wiburys songs. His opening act on that tour was Dhani Harrison so it was great to see DHani perform with Jeff on the Wiburys songs.

Was there too. It was my #2 best concert of all time. It was spectacular. Just before Covid shut everything down.

How about Dhani? Sound and looks like dad.

As per research for my Freshman English 101 Term Paper at WKU in the fall of '78, I recall the unofficial 5th Beatle was Billy Preston. Found that in many publications as well as interviews I did with several old radio DJs from way back when.

Damn, I'm old !! 🤣🤣🤣

Actually several over the years were referred to as the 5th Beatle.

Pete Best
George Martin

...being a couple others. Jeff Lynn was one as well.

John referred to them as "sons of the Beatles"

I can't wait to see them again.

Saw all 3 you mentioned. McCartney at Rupp. Stones in Lou.

My top... Queen.

Actually Pete Best was one of the original Beatles. He was replaced with Richard Starkey better know as Ringo Starr. I knew Martin was really involved in producing. I was going on info I was able to find at the time of my term paper (and Lord knows that information was not anywhere near readily available as it is now). 🙃 As I stated I am old !!

It does make me want to try to find my old paper though. Back then, not everyone had type writers and I didn't pay to have someone type out my paper. My prof said if I had turned in my work typed I would have received a better grade but I was happy with the "C+" I got, actually one of my higher grades !!🤪🤪🤪

I am glad I saw this show back in 2019, because judging by the videos and reviews, Jeff is now a shell of himself in regards to voice and carrying the songs. The band is excellent musically, but he is essentially just a prop w/ backup singers.

I was in the right time to hear a bunch of their music. Never really got into them but I did like a few of their songs. Did ELO really have an 'era', though? Didn't seem they were huge in their prime like several of their contemporaries so not sure about an ELO 'era' but, hey, all the groups I grew up listening to are getting WAY old so certainly part of some era, right?

I ignored them in the 70s as I was a Stones/Led Zep fan... and ELO was too "poppy" lol.

Nowadays, I love their catalogue and listen to them on Spotify all the time.

You are basing that, I think, on the first show in Cali. From what I am seeing he is rounding back into shape. His band has been with him for nearly 10 years now. They also are a band called Big Horizon when not touring with ELO.

The reviews are better now with it being called the show of the year at this point. At 76yo he had to get back into game shape I suppose.

Will report back because I will be seeing them in Indy on Saturday.

Hopefully he is better, but the reviews I read on a music forum were from recent shows in SF and Portland. Admitted, many aging stars have good/bad nights. Although it definitely isn't the show of the year, I would expect them to give their fans a nice evening of hits and be near the top of their game. As I said before, I am glad I saw this in 2019.

Stu Stucluffe was actually the 5th Beatle. He passed away after being assaulted on they’re 1st or 2nd Hamburg tour.

But Lynne is incredible as is ELO. Love their music.
Jeff and George were obviously close. How about the Traveling Wilburys? Everyone has a favorite Beatle right? Well mine is George. Obviously he was overshadowed back in the day by those other two.

I also saw that show. They were awesome.
I went to that show and parked down on the west end of the arena...what was once a gravel/slightly paved area. I and a long ago gf were walking towards Rupp and there was an RV parked there. A guy waved at us and we waved back. He was wearing a yellow t-shirt. I said, "Hey, that looks like Jeff Lynne". We got into the arena and I told a fiend of mine (HUGE ELO fan) about it and he gave me the S***. Anyway, ELO comes out on stage and Jeff Lynne is wearing a yellow t-shirt like the one I described. My buddy looks at me and says, YOU AS*H***!

I was like, why are you getting mad at me?

Anyway, my friend at that time was a huge ELO fan and it was funny because he missed out. The guy I saw in the RV was definitely Jeff Lynne...I have zero doubts about it. Anyway, there you go.

Great show every time I watched them with an amazing light show for the ‘70’s. When you have that many hits you’re definitely a great band. Psychedelic assistance enhanced the atmosphere.

Was lucky to have a friend whose dad owned a strip mine and we got a 55 gal. barrel of gas a week. That saved us a ton, making it easier to afford more tickets for concerts. We were constantly traveling to different cities and concerts.

I am with you. Harrison is my favorite Beatle just love the songs he wrote. On a side note George's "All Things Must Pass" is the Top selling Albumn by a Beatle as a Solo Act. I have wore out the grooves on those 3 LPs in that set.

My fav underrated song by George...Cheer Down. Common thread....Tom Petty and Jeff Lynn.

The common thread is that Lynne (you keep leaving off the e) was THE hot producer for middle aged rockers in the late 80s and produced the George Harrison comeback album, the Tom Petty Full Moon Fever album, and the Roy Orbison comeback album, which all came out around the same time. It's why Lynne was included in the Traveling Willburys.

Thanks for the info. I am going to make one of these shows. Been a fan since the 70s (ELO and KISS were my two favs as a kid, never seen either in concert).

Also Flaming Pie, one of Paul McCartney's best.

Don't have the link, but there is a video of ELO playing at Wembly in London that was great. Turn to Stone. That and Shine a Little love are my favorites.
