Stoops has just completed his 11th $EC season here, and is now the 9th highest paid coach in all of college football.

Here's the conference results for the 9 million dollar man:

2013 0-8
2014 2-6
2015 2-6
2016 4-4
2017 4-4
2018 5-3
2019 3-5
2020 4-4
2021 5-3
2022 3-5
2023 3-5

$EC results = 35 wins 53 losses .397 winning pct.

Meaning we've had a winning $EC record 18% of the time.

During that time period, of the teams we've defeated, how many total head coaching changes have their been ?? I sense it would be a surprising number and a testament that we've had some success against very weak SEC East programs. We've been fortunate to see so many have down years ... we knew that wouldn't last.

Someone page Rembrandt to tell us about stoops great body of work How he brought us from a 333 winning percentage all the way up to 367

Their entire existence hinges on the beat down of MAC and Ohio Valley squads and the rotational wins against the bottom feeders in the $EC, like Vandy, who kicked our ass last year, and USC Jr., who beat us with the 3rd stringers last night.

Bagdad Bob doesn't post here for a few days after each loss.

He is too much of a fan to discuss football with "negative" UK fans.

He will be back on Tuesday bragging about the D holding its last two SEC road opponents to 10 points per game and finishing SEC play giving up less than 30 per game. Build a statue for the 29 points a game. We did it fam.

I don't want Barnhart fired because of performance. I want him fired because I like his house and think I could talk him down to about $20 because he sucks at negotiating contracts.

5-19 vs Teams ranked 11-25
0-17 vs Top 10 teams
That first stat is incorrect. He's actually 10-2 vs teams ranked 11-25 since 2018 and 12-8 vs teams ranked 11-25 during is career.

Not defending him right now, but it’s only fair to get correct information.

Given our schedule, going 500 in the sec is as good as we can reasonably expect. That's just being realistic. 3 of our losses are against top 10 teams.

We should've beat USC for sure, but they're nearly undefeated at home. UT is a top 25 team but we should've beat them too.

It's just a tough, tough league that is getting tougher

They have played all cupcakes at home, including UK.

You are right about the league though. Gonna be 6 win seasons or less galore once it goes to 9 games.

I wouldn’t count first three years since it was a complete rebuild. Without:

31-30

3 years ? Bull , I know it’s not exactly the same but there tons of turn around jobs that didn’t take 3 years .. did it take Brohm 3 years ? Don’t try to provide cover for Stoops .. he’s been terrible for 2 years and his longer track record is t exactly stellar

Do you recall how bad things were in 2012? I think people are forgetting. Brohm rebuilding in ACC in portal era is apple to oranges comparisons.

I guess folk could count 2015. I would not but could see why others would. Def not 13 or 14. All the players that got booted went FCS which tells ya something.

Im not here to defend or push CMS out the door but here are the numbers:

UK football 528-576-36
CMS 72-64

So in its long glorious history UK is sub 500 in football
CMS wins at .529 pace

He was the right man at the time of his hire with his vision of recruiting and hard tough teams built from the O and D lines.

Whether he can make the necessary adjustments to improve our position remains to be seen. He needs to have a great game next week and beat the Cards. Doing that along with a bowl win will stem the tide a little

I think we are having two separate discussions. My point in this thread: the wins-losses from first two (or three seasons) skews the overall numbers due to the vast rebuild required in pre-portal, and pre-NIL age of CFB. So, I wouldn’t count them. Arguably, there’s still a good point to be made (I don’t agree with it to be honest) about Stoops without including them.

I have low expectations for next week. I don’t think it’ll go well. I think 31-17 cardinals a week out. :( I think Vegas has it UofL -6.5 this morning.

Bowl games themselves are toss ups depending on motivation. I can’t imagine the hypothetical team they play in a 6 win tier bowl would have more talent.

We’ve got good talent. Getting that talent to perform up to and perhaps beyond their capabilities seems to be the talent. And, I’m gonna hit on one my familiar themes here…. Quit playing no name cupcakes at the start of the season. It leads to a false sense of ability and ultimately to disappointment.

Numbers are funny things. Let's just go with what the HL says then.

Overall under Stoops, Kentucky is 12-25 against the AP Top 25. After starting 2-12 in such games from 2013 through 2017, UK and Stoops have gone 10-13 vs. ranked foes since the start of the 2018 season.

He is now 1-17 vs the top 10. The lone win was 2021 vs Florida.

Yep…he’s been atrocious against Top 10 teams. No doubt about that. He’s had done decent success against teams ranked 11-25 as the numbers point out.

11 of those 17 losses have been against top 10 Bama and UGA teams.

I’ve been trying to figure out who the guy could be to take us to that next level. If Stoops was to leave tomorrow, Mitch would 100% hire Sumrall.

You can't be a Top 10 paid coach and produce those kind of numbers. You just can't. We've overpaid just to be mediocre. And nobody with a brain thinks we should constantly compete with UGA/Bama. But every now and then you should have a fighting chance.

He's going to be here next year, barring some insane development. It will be his last chance to do anything I think.

Stoops' Buyout as of 1 Dec 2023 = $51,187,500.00

There’s no way your numbers are correct.

I agree, we have good talent but, we don’t have dudes that perform. They are practice players but disappear during the game. Might have one big game then might catch 1 or 2 a game rest the year.

Here you go:

2013 (0-2)

2016 (1-0)
W vs 11 UL

2017 (0-2)
L vs 20 UF
L vs 23 NW

2018 (3-0)
W vs 25 UF
W vs 14 MSU
W vs 12 PSU

2019 (0-0)

2020 (2-0)

2021 (1-0)
W vs 15 Iowa

2022 (3-1)
W vs 12 UF

W vs 16 MSU
W vs 25 UL

2023 (1-1)
W vs 22 UF
L vs 21 UT

And Brainfart was here for all of it...he's a complete putz and should stick to women's sports...
I guess someone didn’t like my first response to this I must’ve touched a nerve… He can’t even get the hire right with that have you seen the women’s basketball team.. Right now they are down at the half to Florida Gulf Coast by 11 points. Elzy’s overall record 51-41 since becoming UK’s coach.
