thats why you dont get excited about Poy

Another Tuesday night, another dumb thread by the OP.
MSU was stout in the paint, Poythress wasn't his best but Lee, Willis and Skal were disappointing as well and look which Big was in the game at the end to save our bacon.

Sorry kinda dumb to post this when his free throw clutchness won us the game. But it is you and you only know one mode .
Maybe so. But Alex's MO for the last 3 years has been inconsistency. It was once again on display tonight. Yes, his free throws were huge. But we may not have needed them if he had showed up for the first 38 minutes. With Skal underperforming and no Humphries, he MUST show up every game.

Had he plyed that way the whole game, we don't need clutch free throws.
That same thing could be said about the rest of our frontline. This isn't all on Poy. Without his clutch play we lose. All of our guys were getting beat once MSU realized they could get to the rack at will.

Who gets excited, most of this board loves to pounce any chance they get. I think your post should be more along the lines of how absolutely atrocious willis is on defense. Oh that's right most people only think the game only takes place on one end of the floor

WTF are you talking about. Murray, Briscoe, and Ulis took 37 of the shots. Do some of you know the game or do you just watch it with no understanding of what's going on. Mississippi State bogged down the middle and made the UK guards shoot jumpers. On top of those 37, Mulder also took 5. That's 42/57 shots from 4 guards. Whatever. The op is what we expect from this troll.

Willis stunk on defense i concur but so was murray and the rest...Cals teams dont give up this many 70 plus games

Poy had a good last min. or so, when he hit the FT ,do not know why he was not posting up when they went to a man..

Willis gets them breathing room at end of half then sits til 8 mins left...mindboggling

yea Willis made some shots. but that kid cost us some big baskets. I'll leave it at that we won. but anyone knowing the game seen what he cost us.

If you think Willis deserves to be on the court, you don't have a clue. The only thing he can do is shoot. He let his man around him 47 times and let his man shoot a wide open 3 87 times. You don't know much about ball.

Honestly, I didn't think his play was awful tonight. With the guards scoring out their wazoos there wasn't a lot of offensive opportunities for Poy or Lee. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a great game for him. But he had 8 boards and played pretty good defense. He just really didn't have a whole lot of opportunities.

Poy apologist. Do you watch his inconsistency and think, hmmm let me blame others and maybe they will forget the 4th year player only shows up half a season? He isn't going to change.

I think we know who Cal was referring to at the half. I will take his take on that over everyone else. Plus, this has been Alex MO over the years.

It's really simple. We have a back court that can win a title. We don't have close to a front court that can come close. A really bad Miss. St. team took us to the wire at home. That's not a good sign at this point in the season.

I've been very critical of Poy all season so don't give me that BS. Sometimes you have to stop and think about things deeper than the surface. Everyone is pointing at Poythress but what did the other bigs do? MSU played Poy well and took him out. Ben Howland is a good coach, I'm not surprised the game went the way it did.

there was a reason why ulis, murray, mulder, and willis had WIDE OPEN threes all night....lets put our thinking caps on and figure this out together.

Fanboi, when you get cleaned up after slobbering over your 'guy', count the number of passes into the paint by the guards. There were nearly none.

Have you ever even stepped on a basketball court. It's just one asinine post after another from you.

Cal absolutely called Poy out. No need for us to make excuses or call out other posters when the coach said it first.

It was definitely a packed in zone, but Randle saw many of these as well. Poy's intensity comes and goes, his skills and bball IQ are not at a level that allows him to be good all the time. He has taken advantage of weaker frontlines and showed some things.

You're right, but UMM deserves to get needled on principle. He's earned it. :joy:

I dont disagree, but that is what many want and frankly this team could use that. If Skal is not going to come around and Alex is going to continue his once every 5 game "beast mode" act then this will be extremely difficult in March.

I think you have to admit that the guards need work on getting the ball inside against a tightly packed zone. Even Randle had some tough offensive games against zones like that till the guards got that figured out. I don't think it's fair to drop that all on on Poy and Lee. At least they had a decent game on the boards and defense. The shots were coming on the perimeter and that was clearly Miss Sts intention.

I wish we could blame the guards for Alex's inconsistency. Poy doesnt have an ounce of Julius' intensity. He is a better athlete, kind of like a race car in a school zone.

Not the guards fault totally, but they play a significant role. Alex and Lee are not Cousins or Randle. You can't pass and forget with them. Poythress generally is a one dribble kinda guy. Lee needs it moving toward the rim.

You gotta play with what you got and that's what we got.
