We were 4 1/2 point underdogs playing on the road with arguably two of our three best players out and factually two of those three were needed the most because of the position they play. I hate that we lost but for the morons that think this was like the Triple C losses you really need to follow him and Reed to Arkansas.

You have to be kidding.

Texas was missing Kaluma and we had them beat. Our missed free throws, lack of effort on the glass and turnovers cost us this game.

This is Kentucky, not Vanderbilt.

Not sure about that. They also beat TAMU down there. That’s a pretty solid win also.
you’re right. the announcer is dumb. i even watched that game. having said that, i still don’t think they’re a tourney team. they might get in on the strength of the conference. they also has an easy (as it gets in this conference) rest of their schedule.

It wasn’t a Cal-type loss, but it was still a game UK controlled for most of the game and should have won. I love Pope but it’s clear—both last year and this year—-his teams play to the level of competition. I’ve said all season a Sweet 16 was the ceiling but I no longer believe that. They can’t put two games together, much less 3-4.

imo texas is not a tournament team. we did them a favor. maybe those odds were because this was a playoff game for them. idk. if that’s their best win of the year, at home, that says it all.
Those odds were because...

We don't have Butler. We don't have Robinson. We don't have Kerr. Someone in Vegas (an outsider with an objective opinion) knew those guys mattered.

We should have found a way to win this game given the lead we had with 3 and half minutes to go.

But make no mistake, we win this game running away if we have either Butler or Robinson.

We had the game and choked yes.

But this exact set up has happened multiple times this year when folks expect us to win yet we’re the underdog.

Betting lines are essentially just computer reflections. Computers told you UK should lose tonight.

Even when healthy, this team is not one of the best teams in the country. They’ve shown they can beat anyone but they don’t have the consistency, athleticism, or defense to be at the level of the elite teams.

Reminds me a lot of the Maxey team. Great record(worse SEC) but the computers did not like that team at all. They were barely top 30 in KenPom.

My God. Moral victories. Prep the popcorn boxes.

It’s weird. It’s ok to be upset that we lost but it’s almost like everyone has forgotten who didn’t play for us. Get a grip folks.

Im floored that people think Texas is some god awful team. There are some awful takes tonight out of frustration that our extremely injured team can't just win every single game. So trying to pretend Texas is some low level SEC team despite being top40 Kenpom, is just bonkers to me.

This ^ is exactly right. I don’t know how so many posters can be so negative. It’s like they want us to lose so they can bitch.

Yep.. Tex has been in some close games of late with ranked teams and was due for a W. Didn’t have high hopes for this team because of their inconsistency.

Yet some think we were favored by 20. Also, they were 35 in KenPom. Hardly a bad loss. We should have won but were expected to lose given the spread.

Not sure how much those guys impacted the spread. Maybe a couple of points. Someone else can confirm what KenPom had this pregame. Team 19 at team 35 was always a tight spread that might’ve leaned Texas.

We know they made a big difference but don’t think Vegas lines shifted more than a few points.

Texas sucks man. Did you really think that was a good basketball team? They were awful.

If Kaluma played, okay, they're pretty good, but that team is poorly coached and they didn't beat us, we gave them the game.

We were knuckleheads turning the ball over, we had lazy players, we didn't get rebounds, we missed a massive amount of feee throws and we played stupid lineups.

You would have a point if we didn't literally give the game away. We gave this game away by making mistakes and playing lazy.

Damn, is this not UK anymore? Losing games like this is okay now? WTF man.

The initial line was Texas -1.5. My friend text me yesterday and told me he was taking the points. I've still got the text.

Butler and Robinson are announced out. Somewhere in there it became -4.5. I. bet it there, and won.

Another intelligent fan. We could use several more like you. Good post. I wish I’d bet a zillion dollars on UK. I’d still hate that we lost but it would beat reading what the loser mentality posters have to say.

That’s the line I remember as well. I think it was 1.5 due to computers and bettors bet it up to 4.5 due to the injuries.

Makes sense to me.

If Texas came out and played solid basketball and were efficient, fine, but that wasn't the case.

You guy trying to act like Texas was good, are soft, sorry, you're soft. Texas stunk, we just decided to suck more.

Stop being soft ass fans, Texas stinks and we handed the game to them.

This is Kentucky, not some mid major that feels lucky to be there. Damn, Calipari softened the shit out of this fsnbase.

We were underdogs for a reason
We were underdogs against Tennessee too. How did that work out for your excuses?

Again, for those in the back of the room and you, we had the game won, we then decided to piss down our legs over and over.

When did this become acceptable? Soft fans like you are making excuses for losses and I blame Cal for that. You guys are soft.

Texas is a bad team.

We should have beaten them and we had the game in hand only to give it away.

Just make free throws and we still win while trying to give it away.

Just don’t have the dumb turnovers and we win.

Just rebound and we win.

Not all of those. Just one and we win.

Texas doesn’t win close games because they are poorly coached.

And they tried to give us the game.
