Out of curiousity, do you think the OC is a bad fit or is his conservative offensive game plan just implementing what Stoops wants from his offense?
I ask because I felt that Jeremy Pruitt had hamstrung Jim Chaney as a playcaller because of Pruitt's fears of TOs. Guarantano wasn't the caliber of QB that Levis is, to be sure, but it just doesn't seem like Levis was allowed to go vertical enough to keep the safeties honest and creeping into the box. UK just doesn't have the dominant OL this season that insert its will on a Front 7 so that bruising backs like Rodriguez can continually pick up 5-7 yds on runs. So a QB needs to be able to punish the D over the top when they creep up. Granted Levis rarely had much time in the pocket for deep throws, but regardless, you can't just continually run Rodriguez into a loadsd box and expect much success
As a UT fan I certainly expected to win this game, but really expected a slugfest because I expected Levis to challenge our secondary, so what I saw last night was surprising. A happy surprise, to be sure because I felt that running a time consuming conservative ground game wohld actually work in UT's favor, mainly because I didn't think your OL this season could sustain long drives in the ground game. I was also surprised UK never adjusted the offense when it became obvious running on 1st and 2nd wasn't working. Especially when you consider UK's 1 score was set up by a nice long pass play. It just seemed puzzling.
At any rate, good luck to UK the rest of the way.
